Well, from what I understand of the MLRS folks, y'all sit way in the rear and wait for the "Fire" command to blow up an entire grid square. As for being called into Infantry, I'm not sure how an Artilleryman would be thrown into the Infantry ranks.

I see, I’m just trying to gather information. As I would like to not see combat.

You will see combat if the war is going badly. The up close ground fighting will be conducted by the Infantry and Armor. MLRS is indirect firing and will not see fight directly.

Counter battery fire and ballistic missile threats will always be of concern to any long range artillery. You may not be infantry but as a high valued asset you will be a priority for the enemy/adversary commander.

I can't really see how that would ever happen. If you were in a Brigade Combat Team you would have a chance to be close to combat. Also, infantry units don't ask other Soldiers to be infantry for the day. But with your MOS you will be in a FA Brigade if I am not mistaken. Basically you would be pretty far back from any direct combat. If you were close to any battles you could be in your shortest engagement range and couldn't fire.

Are you hoping to go into close quarters combat?

PVT (Join to see) - If you end up seeing close quarters combat, something seriously wrong just went down.

Well something here is awkward: you are a soldier and doesn’t want to see combat. You know that the soldiers whole purpose in life is to trains for combat and if in combat achieve total victory, right????

And at the same we blow the enemy with MRLS 300 miles out they attempt to do the same to us. Also, those little ugly bastard things called IEDs nastily emplaced along the routes you guys travel as you reach your assigned firing points!
