I speak Mandarin Chinese and currently serve as a 11B in the Army National Guard. Would I be eligible, should I take the DLPT?

----

So I looked into this situation and was able to talk to someone at HRC. If anyone is interested, here is the link for the foreign language bonus: https://www.hrc.army.mil/content/Foreign%20Language%20Proficiency%20Bonus

Current eligible languages are here: https://www.hrc.army.mil/asset/16734
Only for languages on the Payment List "A" or Payment List "B" are eligible for all soldiers, regardless of MOS. For all others, it needs to be relevant to your MOS or current assignment.

i.e. Unless we suddenly deploy against China, I am not eligible as a 11B.

Are you in a language billet? I'm thinking no as a bang bang. That said, if you take the DLPT, you will identify yourself to big Army with a capability (if and when North Korea kicks off). Also the DLPT can be translated into college credits -- good luck

Here in the language portion, towards the bottom, it shows which languages currently qualify. They change from time to time and are dependent also on your ao. http://www.swcsoldier.com/welcome-swcs-soldier/helpful-information-about-sf-and-special-operations/
