I'm a 1N2A I love the technical aspect of my job, there is an operational path we can take also. I personally think we are probably one of the most versatile of the 1Ns, but that's probably my bias talking. If you're looking for opportunities outside the force we have a good market in that too, just have to build your network. Just know that 1N2As are a very small AFSC and we get lumped with the 1N2Cs for promotions etc, but our manning is separated as the AF knows they don't need a lot of us but they definitely need us. Another good point is we will probably never be listed for force shaping or being critically manned. If you have any other questions find me on global.

Without going into detail, how do you like your job? What are some of the daily tasks at hand?

I personally love my technical work, it's a little math heavy but I enjoy it. Where I'm stationed we primarily work on a data mining mission and a simulation mission. I prefer the sim mission but due to my longevity and expertise I've been pulled back to our data mining mission, hence why I say we are misunderstood as our skills are wasted data mining. Thankfully that's more so a location issue. I've seen plenty of other places where we are utilized in amazing ways. Plan to spend a lot of time in front of a computer screen no matter what 1N job you get though. I have friends/contacts all across the 1N spectrum... side effect of spending time at Goodfellow.

I love the tech aspect of my job, it's math heavy but I personally enjoy it. There is also an aperational path you can take as a 1N2A. Note the 1N2 career field is split between Alphas and Charlies, Alphas specialize in ELINT and Charlies specialize in COMMINT. Again understand my bias towards my particular brand. My mission set here is broken between sims and data mining, I prefer to work in the sim shop but due to my longevity and expertise I've been forced back to the data mining mission. Personally data mining isn't what we're meant for and the analyst that are here are wasting their skill set, why I say in some instances we are misunderstood. Thankfully that's a location problem, I've seen my careerfield do some amazing things elsewhere... thank God for TDYs. No matter what 1N field you fall under expect to spend a lot of time in front of a computer, I have friends/connections in all the others as well, side effect of spending time at Goodfellow.

I retained into Intelligence as an all source analysts back in 2005 and did it for 6 years. It was the best time. The down side is a lot of briefings that you will have to give and lots of research. But it is awesome because you learn something new everyday.
