I'm currently stationed in Germany and had a soldier that was keeping blank ammuntion in his barracks room. I'm having a difficult time finding where it says in the AR's that this isn't allowed. Does anyone have any insight or reccommendations on where to look? Thanks for any help.

Ammunition is prohibited from being stored in the barracks. Check AR 190-11 as well as the base's SOP and unit Barracks SOP. Ammunition, regardless the type, must be stored in an AHA, temporarily in the Arms Room, or remain under physical guard (if necessary).

This is as straight as it gets. Check your company SOP as well.

What are the repercussions if you are caught and arrested for having ammo in your barracks room?

On a side note, what is on your forehead above your glasses in your profile pic?

This is the direct wording from DA Pam 670-1 SPC Nicholas Zeigler, definitely not authorized.

"The cap is worn so that no hair is visible on the forehead beneath the cap."

Yep, That's my hair SFC, Honestly didn't even think about that when I uploaded it. This was about 4 months into my last tour in Afghanistan where even seeing a barber was like finding a needle in a hay stack. Thanks for pointing it out,I'll get that changed with to an appropriate picture.

DA Pam 385-64, Ammunition and Explosives Safety Standards, does not differentiate between live rounds and blank ammunition when discussing storage.

Para 3-1, DA Pam 385-64 states "AE (except limited quantities of SAA) will not normally be stored in basements, attics, or other portions of barracks, company supply rooms, general storehouses, or any buildings being used for other purposes."

COL Jean (John) F. Burleson, SSG Matt Strong Sir, SSG: Sucks to be that guy. Feed him to the CSM, I am sure he can find all kinds of fun stuff for him to do. 1stSgts and CSM's are so creative when it comes to extra duty!

SSG John Erny No question about that. When I was a company commander, on several occasions when administering Art 15's, I had soldiers actually ask for additional restriction or pay reduction in lieu of getting put on the 1SG's "chain gang"... :-) He was pretty brutal about the tasks he assigned to those on extra duty.
