Yes, my sister lives on Island there. Tells me those waters are the richest eco system. Only problem you can not see through the muddled brown water. She got stung in the water by something forgot what she said. Fishing is awesome there I hear.

PFC Sandra Wade if she got stung in the water it was probably a Portugese-man-of-war... a jellyfish kinda thingie with a sail on top. if it was on the bottom coulda been a ray or a horseshoe crab.

I’ve seen all kinda of birds & fish & other of God’s creatures in and around the waters in the Carolina & GA Sea Islands.

Right near where that pic was taken i’ve paddled through pods of dolphins and once a small (3 or 4) pod of Manatees... surprised the shit out of me as i thought i was WAY NORTH of their range.

I'm already getting "Bug" used to the water...maybe he'll take to it like the Old Man.

My “boat” is a 13’-6” Kayack with a built in trolling motor. Some kayakers like the exercise. This kayaker likes to get where he’s going, and not be worn out getting there.

Very nice Keith...been looking at one like this myself. Lady Anne can get into some shallow water (swing keel), but she's unwieldy in narrow waters, and we've got some of the best in the South here. Kinda think I need one as a "tender" so I can anchor, cut loose, and catch dinner.

Thank you Sir. Yes Sir, you live in some of the best fishing anywhere. My yak is good to about 2’ of water with the troll motor in. With the troll motor out, maybe a foot of water. If you get a kayak or canoe, get a bright color like yellow so other boaters can see you. Same goes for you PFD. Those dark or camouflage colors are very hard to see from large boats.

I loved sailing. Sadly, an inner ear problem (Meniere's Disease) made that impractical. Fortunately, I was able to sail on tall ships before my sailing days ended. The Brig Pilgrim out of Dana Point. The topsail schooner California and a couple others. If you're a sailor, don't miss the chance of being a topmast sailor.

LCDR (Join to see) - As a Sea Scout, we had a beautiful 16' lapstrake hull sailboat missing its rudder and centerboard. We went to a shipyard where a large vessel was being scrapped. We drew an outline of what we needed on the hull with a piece of chalk and a worker cut them out for us with a cutting torch. After grinding the edges we mounted them on the boat. The weight of that centerboard was almost as good as a fixed keel. Even raised in the trunk it ballasted the boat. And yeah, the pivot is ... well, pivotal

The Chrysler 22 was designed as a "starter boat" back in the 70s...but I think they tried to put all the features of a 25 footer into it, which nullified the "simple" original design. It's 3,000 lbs displacement with a pretty tall mast for the beam and length. Under mainsail and jib, she'll lean well over 22 degrees in a good stiff breeze...not quite enough to put the rail under, but "impressive" all the same. I've had more experienced Chrysler sailors tell me that she'll go all the way over if the keel is up under sail...though I find it difficult to believe unless you've got a sea state to match high winds. All in all, she's probably all the boat I could handle at present.

LCDR (Join to see) - This is my favorite of all time, a Santana 27. Sailed it from Anacapa Island to Santa Barabara Island one night in a full gale with following seas large enough that I couldn't see stars. I think I was splashed with about one cup of water the whole way. Sailed it to Ensenada and passed bigger boats by passing close to leeward. When I got into the tunnel (wind passing between their jib and main) I shot forward like a slingshot. Good cabin space too
