Been spending a lot of time on South Mountain. My personal favorites are the Bursera Trail, National, and Telegraph Pass.
Anyone done Tom's Thumb? I've heard some good things about it, but have yet to attempt.

I'm a midwesterner, so my experiences are way different. I just had to comment since this is the first post I've noticed in a while under this topic. Most of my trail running is on small rollers on single track. I'd love to try a mountain trail, but those are in very short supply in northern Illinois. :D

if you are ever out in the south west, there is a great amount of trails. Some old fire trails, some flat, mountains, either way it always has a great view and vibe. Something about running in the desert is always fun :)
my current favorite is:

short but extremely challenging.

My wife and I are thinking about hitting New Mexico next summer. I may have to see what I can find. Most of my trails look more like this

I've heard a lot of good things about "The Jug" in Salome. It's very technical in that you have to wade through water and rappel down a cliff to get to the natural water slide. Probably too cold to do it comfortably now, but next summer I really want to do it. If you're looking for normal hiking, check out echo canyon trail on camelback mountain and the trails on the north mounting preserve. Piestiwa peak is also a fun one to hike. Or if you want to make a trip out of the valley, the trails in Sedona have some great scenery.

sorry for the late response. The Jug looks awesome. I've done Piestiwa, which is awesome. Going to Sedona this weekend as well (but won't be hiking).
Thank you for all of the suggestions. Gave me enough to go on for the next few months
