What are your feelings as the Taliban reclaim Afghanistan after 20 years of US involvement?

I was reporting aboard my first ship in the spring of 75 and watching sailors pushing Army choppers over the side of the Ranger. Hope the young vets know we understand what you are going through.

In the short term, those to our left and right. We endured the shit together and watched each others 6. In the end, the mission was to get home.

My heart feels heavy. When I was in Vietnam, I saw the same situation. Sadness and anger.
My PTSD has brought back memories.

I feel that the officers, generals, and elected officials have a lot of explaining to do.
Specifically the 500 or so that publicly attacked the 45th president while endorsing the current president, who has clearly proven that he is not only taking orders from the Chinese Communist party but also repeatedly violating his oath to the constitution and our great country.
Cutting and running in the middle of the night is not a strategy.
People like Jim Mattis, Milly, Mark Kelly, etc have a lot of explaining to do. Trump wiped out ISIS in a year, we could do the same with the taliban.
THESE GENERALS ARE COMPROMISED MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX SCUMBAGS AND SHOULD HANG FOR TREASON AND SEDITION.

We needed to bring the troops home, however biden should have followed the exit plan that the Trump administration had laid out. Biden did the same thing to our southern border, now we have overv100,000 illegal immigrants coming across the border each month. If thats not a Super spreader of covid 19 then nothing is.

As someone who was there in the early days, 02-04, it’s very difficult to watch. Our small SF contingent was seemingly effective at keeping things manageable.

We have not won a war since WW2. This government has backed out of finishing the job for years. I'm a Vietnam vet we lost 54000 + vets. For nothing ... We lost in Korea we have now lost in Afghanistan . This is bullshit. Our government just wants to kill us. God help us.

I can't say I am surprised to see this happen, we still have not learned from history. That geographical area has been at war throughout history and it is a no win situation for anyone who gets involved. I do believe the abrupt withdrawal was a disservice to the civilians who wanted our help and support and a slap in the face of my military brothers and sister who served in theater, shed blood, sweat and tears. What does this say about the many who did not come home? I kneel at the cross for each one and stand in support of the families who lost a loved one in this war.
To my brothers and sisters who served in Afghanistan, I support you, stand beside, in front of and behind you in full respect of everything you have done. If you ever need to vent, hear a voice of support or shed tears in a nonjudgmental atmosphere, I am here for all of you.
