I was stationed in the Canal zone in 75 (I was 18). I hated it for over a year. Then I learned to scuba dive and hit the beach every chance I got. Found the great restaurants and had a great time. Just needed to grow up and take advantage of what was there.

#1 Ft Hood (aka "Ft Head at the time) in 1970 - It was so bad I requested reassignment back to Vietnam while in 2AD Replacement Company
#2 Aberdeen Proving Ground - Because of a very poor leader.
#3 Camp Crockett at Ft Gordon - If you were there for pre-Airborne AIT, you know why!
#4 Wharton Barracks, Heilbronn, FRG - In 72, the barracks were in p**s poor condition, as were the quarters. Transitioning to VOLAR and Junior Officers thought all the Junior NCO's were dopers, even if we weren't, which affected the unit morale.
#5 MDW/(Old "New") Walter Reed - Here was the showcase of the Army's Medical Corps, with non-functioning elevators and pharmacy and food service delivery systems (in the new hospital in 79) and a CG that hated motorcycles, mandating that they be parked just inside a non-secured gate, came out one day to find some of my safety equipment (mirrors) and my clutch ripped off. Damned civilian (DOD) cop sat on his fat a$$ and watched the perps do it. Army told me where to go with my claim. Small instillation with inadequate parking even for those assigned to the facility. Lousy food on paper plates, styrofoam cups and bowls, and plastic utensils. And whoever thought of having the NCO Club as part of the barracks should have had his head pulled out of his rectum, and then have his rectum shoved down his throat.
Best duty station for me was one that no longer exists, Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Denver. Was actually in the suburb of Aurora, and we considered it the "country club" of Army assignments.

Hunter-Liggett, Atterbury, McCoy...I haven't been to enough to name the 5 worst, but those 3 would probably be at or near the top of the bottom.

I was never stationed anywhere that I didn't like but I never met anyone that had anything good to say about Ft. Polk, LA.
