What are your pick up lines attitude at the bar or out in town?

I imagine a active duty guy might say something alone the lines like this.

Yeah I am in the military
Yeah it is rough I am in this unit this and that let them guess what ever they wanted to guess from there
You stand up straigth and you have all your cool military buddies with you and you all have a good time and the girl likes it and gets wrapped in
You get a kid
The Military takes care of you financially enough to raise the kid.
You get the honorable
You get your degree with the GI bill
You are in your mid twenties and all this has happened
Your kid grows up and you have a fairly cool relationship with your girl..

Ok—-

Then their is mine that I try to create for a young guy with a reserve enlistment.

The girl goes by.

You are in shock

You used to feel confident to some extent especially after a successful bootcamp

You are alone at the bar

The full time active duty guys you are embedded and supporting never call you for a drink in between weeks of time off (what ever you want to call it) between monthly duty

You are younger then them.

This is a superiourly high stress high demand position assigned to a undermanned active duty combat command

Reesrve pay sucks far below poverty

You get pressed beyond the max every month on duty and you actually have to freeze as their is no way to digest it

It as if you have this gigantic mathmatical theoretical quiz that you must figure out how to make this into a story of success

But in reality you are just freaking overloaded and not even 21.

The world seems on your shoulders with this duty assignment

Your pick up lines are not one of any assuring or confidence ...it is basically a young hurting man with some testosterone trying to find safety in someone else...

How does a girl actually feel comfortable with that

Your concerns with this are finally reminded and doubly assured when you go to the va and they say get lost you dont have enough active duty days to be a veteran for veteran purposes..screw this piece of paper that says honorable on it...its on a reserve discharge....

But no one is tracking this

So if the government can not at all be proud of you and support you and acknowledge you directly fro the minute you walk in the door with a reserve enlistment...then how the heck is a lady supposed to feel confident with you and your position in life...


I dont think they at all think of this scenario in all their 22 a day veteran suicides....

Signing an enlistment that is basically invisible unless you appeal and appeal
