Now we can get back to our regularly scheduled programming. The hype is over, both got paid. Hopefully that's the end of it.

My reaction? Being an MMA fan, it went exactly as I expected it to.
No, of course Mayweather won't go to the Octagon. With all of Mayweather's arrogance, he was apparently the only one of the two that was aware of their physical/technical limitations (given the extremely short time-line), which is why he didn't issue a challenge to take on McGregor in the Octagon in the first place. Must have been the age difference.
If McGregor had challenged a boxing "nobody", he likely would have fared much better. However, he tried to jump in at the top of a different sport. Oh well, the hype netted them a ridiculous payday...

A cage match may have had a different result.......but boxing? That's Mayweather's turf.

I knew Mayweather was going to win, as much of a Mcgregor fan that I am I could honestly tell where the odds were going with this one. 49-0 boxer about to retire will not retire 49-1 lol. They're both highly skilled fighters and are amazing athletes.
I though McGregor did extremely well going ten rounds in the other guy's sport.

That's my thoughts exactly. I really didn't expect much since boxing matches are twice as long as regular UFC fights and McGregor was restricted to only using his hands. The highlights I saw were a much better performance and fight than I anticipated.

Idk how you call that a tko...no blood, and still on his feet. Ref blew it, no pun intended.

Not sure how YOU don't call that a Technical Knockout:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knockout#Technical_knockout
Fighters have to show they are intelligently defending themselves, so if they aren't, and are eating repeated punches, the Refs are going to jump in. There have been plenty of bouts where a fighter has not been bleeding, and still standing, but were basically unconscious on their feet; which opens them up to take a massive amount of serious damage to the head, which can permanently injure them. The extent Refs let things go in MMA and Boxing are different. For the last half of the 9th round, and the first half of the 10th round, McGregor was eating punches with no defense, no answers, and desperation clinches; he just wasn't there.

of all the Mayweather fights that I have seen, I think this might have been on of his better performances. Conner needs way more conditioning, after about the 6th round I could tell he was done. Does he have a future in boxing, that remains unseen right now, best for him to stick to the octagon. I was however pleased overall with the fight.

Agreed. I never watch boxing, because I find it extremely boring, outside of Knockout Highlights. However, because it was an MMA crossover, I gave it a shot. I didn't have McGregor as winning anyway, but it was still an interesting challenge.
McGregor basically just got paid $100+ million to be a sparring partner for Mayweather, where he got to learn new techniques and strategies from a Champion boxer and Olympian, that he can take back to MMA and implement in the Octagon if applicable. I don't think a fighter could ask for anything better.
It was a decent fight. No complaints from me.

After all that hype, I totally agree! Conner's game is to get in your head early and hope emotions get the best of you. Floyd was a technition tonight. Didn't let anything distract him from the mission.

I'm not a huge boxing/MMA fan. I've just never really "gotten" it. But I will tune in for the bigger fights when it's convenient. For this one, my neighbor got the PPV and invited me over. So as a complete boxing novice, I thought it was a good fight. McGregor's style looked a lot different from what I was used to seeing and it seemingly took Mayweather some time to figure it out. Either that or Mayweather was saving himself for alter rounds. Either way it worked. By around the 7th round even I could tell that McGregor wasn't going to make it. I didn't think the ref should have called it that soon but doing so only delayed the inevitable. Overall I enjoyed it but wouldn't have spent money to watch it and probably won't spend money to watch the next one.
