What are you thoughts comparing the two branches? I've looked at doing a detail for three years in AR, then heading to MI, but I'm not so sure anymore. It seems to me like battalion level AR offers some of the same challenges that MI does. Am I wrong there? Please share your thoughts on your branch, and your perception of the other.

Armor is maintenance centric. You pay for your ride through arduous maintenance. The Armor PL will have to give directions to the driver because he is low in the tank. You have to talk to your crew, your PSG, and the Company Commander. You have to make decisions quickly because that is the nature of Armor. After PL time you will most like be an assistant in a S shop.

MAJ Ken Landgren You were actually buttoned up and not riding in a hatch cover?

Years ago, a OH 58 dropped down at NTC. COL Taylor exited the aircraft heading for a PL whom he had seen riding in a hatch cover.

The PL jumped off the PC and landed at the position of attention in front of the 113 for the on-coming ass chewing!

MAJ Ken Landgren When the deceased kid brother was a 11 H riding in a gun jeep in Germany before he re-upped for Nam, the Legs would really get on his ass if that jeep got stuck in the mud and had to dug out by the Direct Fire Crewmen who were accustomed to riding past the
11 Bs!

CSM Charles Hayden - No I was not buttoned up. It is very difficult to look through the periscopes.

CSM Charles Hayden - I think 11Bs take pride in their collective misery.

This one was a good deal broader, so I just figured I'd send the search, so you could look through as many as might interest you....
