What are your thoughts on people who say that when the military deploys and does a training exercise, it is a sure sign of martial law?

I think the government should have discussions with state leaders to explain what is going on and what the intentions are so that the citizens of that state can remained informed by their representatives in order to respect state sovereignty. The bottom line is states have rights too and the government has an obligation to respect that.

Most people don't understand what Martial Law, nor who can declare it, let alone what protections we have in place. Add in the logistical challenges of actually implementing it in anything larger than a city... and the math of comparing gun owners vs military.... and you end up with a real Tinfoil hat argument.

I misspelled the word "their" in the second answer. I apologize for my poor grammar.
