What are your thoughts on religious symbols worn with dog tags

I guess my thought is this: Dog tags are for fast identification in the event of death. Religious preference is already put on the tag in wording... I don't know most of the symbols that are on that poster, so if you place a stamp of the image, would do ME no good in trying to arrange for your "religious wishes" during end of life...just before or after. If you want to have ADDITIONAL image on your tags, should be your personal expense, as long as everything else fits and stays the same. If I recall correctly, you are already ALLOWED to wear a religious symbol around your neck in addition to your dog tags... must stay inside your t-shirt if I remember correctly. Adding image to dog tag at govt expense is waste of time and money.

I recall the restrictions, unless changed since, that a necklace other than for the dog tags may not exceed a chain or cord the size of the ball chain like with the dog tags. For some, that would be a problem as rosaries and japa beads are much larger. But I have seen soldiers wearing jewelry outside the regulations and our CoC didn't appear to have a problem with it since with wasn't interfering with anything. But as for images on the tags, I agree, at least have it printed so those who are not familiar can still read it, but there ones that most people don't know about and most every religion has sects within it with various ideologies and may not have the same methods as another. For that, I'd like to see an inclusion of what specific faith the person is.

I wouldn't have recalled the name for the Egyptian, and I thought four I couldn't identify, not five. SGT Allan Max Sterling, are you certain it's Kapu, it looked like Jainism to me, but I haven't yet came across Kapu.

Since the military endorses religion (why else would we have Chaplains?) why shouldn't those of us who identify as religious be able to show our faith on our dog tags?
