What are your thoughts on the Affordable Care Act?
I have insurance however out of pure curiosity, I went to the healthcare.gov website to see what it would cost me and my family if for some reason my insurance was ever dropped.
Currently paying approx $300 per month with no deductible, $25 office visits, etc to the cheapest ACA plan at $788 per month with a $6,000 deductible and 40% after the deductible is met.
I make a decent salary and I would go bankrupt in a couple months if I had to pay these cost. Just curious where the "AFFORDABLE" part comes into play.

I have followed this plan since it came out in 2009. It is performing to design, not failing as the media has reported. The plan, as written, was to launch ACA, destabilize the insurance industry and then implement a single payer government controlled health care system. Affordable in the name was just a marketing strategy.
My personal View.

One of the senators, a democrat from NC disagrees and went so far as to go on TV and make an ad against it.

There's the issue..Government Controlled. Our gov't can not control what they have, why would they need any more control. Just my two cents.

Agreed sir. My cost of insurance doubled and so did the deductible. IN on instance my wife had a procedure done, with insurance it would have been around $1,600.00 out of pocket (we had not met the deductible) I paid them $600.00 cash and got the procedure done... This is killing the middle class..

From all the information I have seen is that for most people if they got a plan their premiums would go up. The one thing that I have the most dislike for is, that it is mandatory for a person to have health insurance. I do work with a single mom who couldn't afford the company health care because it was expensive. Now she can't afford the ACA health care either because it is too expensive for her also. But yet it is mandatory. I just do not see how it is going to benefit those who are less fortunate if they can not even afford to buy it, since it is mandatory.

Thank god I live in Massachusetts, probably one of the only times I have ever said this.
They instituted mandatory healthcare a few years back and we did not notice an appreciable difference in health insurance cost.

I think the name sounds good, but doctors have to make money to pay back all of those student loans. Granted, they do way more than that with what they make now, but this' gonna be bad for the medical field and all who are affected by it. I'm talking about doctor shortages and over usage in demand.

I agree with that also. There will be millions more people that are going into a system with the same amount if not less medical personnel to cover it. Look for long lines to see a doctor.

It's already bad here. Get a sinus infection and unless you're willing to wait four hours or better at the ER for Urgent Care, you'll have to wait a month to see your PCM.

Heck, it took five years of treatment before a doctor finally recommended I get a permanent profile and an MRI and that was while ACA was being hammered out! I'm going to HATE how llong it takes to get treatment now! Lol!

It appears as if a Superpac is helping fund Sen Kay Hagan and this was contrary to what I saw last night, but still the increasing pressure is a good thing because this is bad for America.

I pray for a return to the later. Then from a NOT RUSHED time, go into the needs and NO ONE IS EXEMPT NOR TAXED.

I like the intent of the plan, give those without insurance a policy to help with medical care. I don't like some of the things in the plan like making a male pay for a policy that covers female birth control. Plans need to be redesigned and adjustable.
Tweek it, and lets see how affective we can make it.
