Will the US ever be able to contain the situation in Afghanistan? How and when can we stabilize it?

SPC Andrew Griffin Another campaign promise broken by a politician. Nothing surprising there. What is sad is that the circumstances in Afghanistan have deteriorated to the point that we cannot fully withdraw our troops. What is sad is that soldiers are going to have to deploy to Afghanistan. What is sad is that somewhere in Russia there is someone saying "We told you so."

More of us will need to sacrifice .... I just hope it don't get worse ...

I think it is probably a good idea to announce that we care not drawing down and out of Afghanistan SPC Andrew Griffin. Announcing our intention to draw-down our forces and exit by a date certain has previously courted disaster for the folks left behind who supported us.
I don't expect an external power will stabilize Afghanistan. However maintaining a force level while other Americans are helping out in groups such as Doctors Without Borders will help some of the younger generations realize there is hope for Afghanistan and that other people care about the Afghans. Building a sense of community within Afghanistan among the various groups and externally is an important step in the Afghans building stability within Afghanistan.

LTC Stephen Ford, Since I was involved in all of what you have stated, it is a known fact for those of us within the community and that with time the powers that be would see that too. Yes 100% is all I can say with out getting in trouble.
