SGT (Join to see) So according to your profile your working in a job that is out of your MOS in a job position that does not technically exist according to the Army "Schools NCO" (it should be an authorized slot, but Big army disagrees)
Your an unverified member using what is likely a fake name. "SGT Sapper Breeze"
You stated you have had personal issues that have kept you from fully performing your assigned duties the last 6 months and indicate there may have been other issues before that as well.
And now your asking for an "extra", not simply required training.
In order to be consider for "extras" the SM has to have built up good will.. that means the SM that is there every day, on time, completes all assigned tasks without issue and implied tasks without being told. Accepts the unplanned task with a good attitude not a bitch and complaint and much more.....
I always found it easy to say yes to an SM that was worthy of "extras". That was the SM that I considered 1st for what I call "performance punishment" The SM you can always trust to get "it" done,, be it the planned job, or the unplanned tasking.. you just tell them what, when , where and GO..than you get a "Its Done Sergeant Major" sometime later and I never hear from the one that the task was for, because it was done right on time, without issue. When that SM ask for unplanned leave, a 4 day pass, duty time to take a certification class perhaps not strictly dealing with current assigned duties, but good for the SM in some other way.... its an easy yes. All others, its going to be, Does it impact the unit AT ALL to let them go.. If yes, then the answer to the SM is no.
ACAP training and briefings are required, buts thats not what your asking for.
Significant time off for schooling is commonly used as reenlistment incentive..not as a gime to those getting out.
I don't know near enough background to say you should or should not be given this opportunity.. But Id bet your CSM does.....

of course I need to use a fake name!! a friend of mine use his name in here and somehow I got in trouble for what he was asking in rallypoint. another thing we constantly ear that if we have issues we can look for help!! that's what I did and I still is not enough , I already make my peace that I will not attending to this class. luckily for me I got PLANS A, B. C ... al the way to Zulu. after my meeting with my SGM I realized that is "punishing me" I can live with that. and I realized that my Higher Command doesn't really care about transitioning soldier, I can be living with my family under a bridge the day after my ETS and they wont care at all. And you call Performance Punishment I call it "Quid pro quo" you have the power to approve and denied stuff. If I don't do stuff for you , you will not allow me what you call extras.
I don't miss training on purpose , a psychology and psychiatry asses that it was the best course of action for me at the time. But off course leaders believe that they have more acknowledge of two medical professionals.
By not means I'm trying to disrespect you SFC Erik Markez, but for leaders of this type the army is losing every day good soldiers.
like I said I made my peace not attending to this class, I know that is going to be another great job opportunity for my around the corner.
have a good day SFC

Gotta agree with what is on here already, SGT (Join to see). There's more to this. Why is he denying the application? What is the application? Sounds strange. How can he deny an application? Are you talking about leave? Is he denying your leave request? Pass request? Well, he can do that. Especially if you are a low density MOS and they need you on the job until your terminal leave kicks in. So if that's the case, you can't do anything. You could file an IG complaint, but they are regulation driven. If it's within the regs, then they are going to tell you what I just told you. Need more information.

The question just giving me 140 character to ask a question im transioning out the army i applied to a VA position and i got accepted but in order to get a job i must assist to a class. This program is called the WARTAC. Program foor soldier transitioning out the Army. In order to assist this class my SCO must approve it. My troop commander is on board with me going to this class however , my SGM is not endorsing me and after 3 weeks im guessing he still holding my packet. His reason basically are 1 i dont think that u are the right person for this position 2. U didnt do enough for our organization in the last 6 months. In the last 6 months i have some behavioral health issues , and for that reason i lost two training exercises 21 days the first one and 45 the other.

SGT (Join to see) - is it the 14 week class you are trying to attend? That's a lot of time off, maybe the CSM thinks you should do it on your own time.

If that's his only reasoning, it sucks. I have sent guys to trade school while they were still in uniform and not on leave through those kinds of programs because it was the right thing to do. That being said, the Command is well within its rights to deny that kind of program if they deem it harms the unit. It would be very difficult to fight that decision. If you did, it would have to be through the chain of command (requesting open door with the Commander to bypass the CSM) or through the IG. Again, the IG would be looking at policy, not what is "right." If it conforms with policy, which I believe the CSM's actions do, then you wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Need more information on this. What type of training? How long is this training? Where is it offered? You may be completing ACAP right now but you are still a Soldier and have obligations.

The ACAP process is made for Soldiers to transition to civilian life. But if you are requesting a large amount of time off to attend training I can see why he would deny it. You are still technically a Soldier and your obligation would be to the unit first. Why would the SGM say he doesn't think you are right for the job? Have you had prior disciplinary issues? Behavioral health issues are a part of Army life these days unfortunately, I would hope the SGM would not hold it against you for seeking out help, even if it means you missed a field exercise. I am not a big fan of IG complaints because they are usually just Soldiers complaining but you should have been assigned a case worker for the ACAP process. Let them know the command is denying your request. Usually they will call the Command and see what the problem is and act on your behalf.

SGT (Join to see) - I cannot speak for the Army practices ever, or even current Marine Corps practices, but back when sabre toothed hamsters roamed the Earth, Commanding Officers and only Commanding officers denied or approved applications. Staff Officers, Plt Ldrs and SNCO's only made recommendations. Staff Officers, Plt Ldrs and SNCO's could not withhold a recommendation. But they could recommend that the application be denied.
So my impression is that you are leaving out a key detail. If your Commanding Officer wanted you to go, your application would be positively endorsed by your CO, with negative recommendation from your SNCO. I have a difficult time believing that a CO would over ride a negative recommendation from a SNCO. My entire time in the Marine Corps, I never had a SNCO make a recommendation to me, that I initially disagreed with, that he couldn't provide the missing piece, and swing my opinion in two minutes or less.
So you need to give up the skeleton in the closet if you really want sound, effective advice. If you are just looking for sympathy, get your dictionary and look somewhere between shinola and syphilis.
