So I had to leave my deployment about 2 weeks earlier than everybody else due to emergency leave and when I got back from emergency leave everybody else had already processed back stateside and so now that I’m heading down to Fort Rucker for WOCS and I need all those Certs for the badges and medals to transition to WO but my S1 or anybody I’ve spoken to actually has any of the awards(I did in fact get them every single person in my squad/platoon did so I know I should have them)

SPC (Join to see) the Brigade Level S1 cuts the permanent orders for the CIB unless your unit was assigned to some higher formation. It's fairly unimpressive looking. I believe it is format 200 which is a one page (half page) permanent order that says you were awarded the CIB for action on such and such date being engaged in combat with the enemy... if you were awarded the CIB, it would be at the BDE S1 permanently....hence permanent orders. Did you get your CIB presented to you in a ceremony? It is an individual award. Did your Platoon mates receive their orders? Were they done as a batch (i.e. Listing all the names for the people involved with the qualifying event on the order)?

Likewise, an AAM has permenant orders from the O5 level command that issued it unless it was a downgrade of another award. Issuing HQ has the permanent award. ensure the AAM is awarded as a
N AAM with C device IAW MILPER Message 17-095. https://www.hrc.army.mil/content/C%20and%20R%20devices

Campaign medals like the ACM, ICM, GWOTEM, IRCM etc are put on your SRB without documentation based on you fulfilling your orders to TCS and the return flight manifest. It's usually done on the way out or as part of your reintegration.

S1 is required to maintain copies of any orders they issued, which would account for any AAMs.
As for CIBs and awards of higher precedence, they would be maintained at the orders issuing HQ, which is also responsible for uploading them to iPERMS.
If you need a copy, go through your CoC and get them from the Orders Issuing HQs.
You will not be the only one with this issue, so support should not be a problem.

What can I do if my unit doesn’t have any of my awards (CIB, AAM(C), etc.) and nothing is on IPERMS for my deployment?

Your S1 is required to maintain copies of all awards/actions that were approved or disapproved in a file they have to maintain. The file suppose to be kept for 12mos after your departure. If they don’t have it, they should be able to check the awards log which has the order number for all approved awards. This will help them to reconstruct the award so it can be re-issued. I hope this helps. Good luck to you.

You should have a copy for the orders of your awards. I got one for every award I had over 20 years.

Ask one of your buddies to see his CIB orders. My unit blacketed our CIB orders and everyone's name are on the orders.

Are your sure you were nominated for any of the awards outside of the deployment? If you S1 has no record, then the next best place to start is with the Company clerk, PLT Sgt, 1SG or Commander. They would know what you were nominated for. Thank you for your service.

I definitely was, but unfortunately was on a detail for about 10 months and all of my chain of command has been changed. But yes I 100% was nominated for at least the AAM and CIB

Have you contacted the Battalion/BDE S1’s, they are required to maintain these records for 2 or 3 years. Not sure which, but they are. SPC (Join to see)

As the CSM they would not have the info. I encourage you to check with the Colpany level and the 1 shops. If they do not have them, they certainly have the wherewithal to get it from records. Your call.

Grab your "I love me book" scan everything to PDF in 300 doing and shoot it to your S1 to code it.

Consider contacting the units that issued the awards and/or PERSCOM!

Another option may be to contact your platoon members. I'm not certain how orders are cut now, but at one time an order awarding the same award would include multiple names. Wouldn't resolve a lack of certificate, but would give you a reference and serve as authorization for wear of the award.

Update: I was able to get the CIB by basically getting one of the guys in my squad to get a copy of his and have my S1 remake mine, but still no luck on the AAM. And yes I did clarify with my S1 that the other awards have no actual certs to go with it
