I am 25, have a college degree and im studying for the SIFT exam right now. I don't want to be a crew member, I want to be the Pilot. Also if y'all could give me some insight into your life as a warrant aviation pilot that would be awesome.
Thanks in advanced for helping a nooby like me guys.

As a 15R, AH-64(E) crew chief. I can tell you that you might have to enlist. Having knowledge about either style of air craft ( CH-47, UH-60, AH-64 ) you have a slight advantage as to knowing the trade. Also I can tell you that for a flight packet you need at least. CW3 or higher for LOR. Here is a link to possibly help you on your journey. http://m.goarmy.com/careers-and-jobs/current-and-prior-service/advance-your-career/warrant-officer/flight-warrant-officers.m.html

Our recruiters try to get guys to become crew chiefs. They have numbers to fill. Everybody (almost) wants to fly, so it's usually pretty easy to get people in. Crew chiefing is not nearly as sexy, but it's a job that needs doing. Among our crew chiefs, we have guys and gals that want to fly. Every year, and sometimes a few times a year, we have boards to interview flyer wannabe's. Crew chiefs that prove themselves with smarts and work ethic are a shoe-in. If you have no motivation and establish a track record as a dirtbag or lack attention to detail, forget about it. But CW4 Haas is right. You don't have to enlist. The 15R is also right. You might be pressured to enlist to prove your mettle, depending on whether you go active or reserve and the needs of the unit.

Read all applicable regulation in becoming one, attend all of your medical exams, do everything you need to do. Read and study what you need to read up on. Keep your self in the best shape you can possibly be, if you need to improve your ASVAB, pay a tutor to help you if you need to.

By doing exactly what you're doing. Start early, shake hands, kill the SIFT, have good eyes.
Just so you're aware of your options, the air force is almost at a dangerously low level of pilots, the navy is a great options. Our aviation wings are gold not silver. That's gotta mean something. If you want more info on the navy route shoot me a message I'm here at flight school right now
