RP Members and Connections I found this picture very interesting and thought I would create some discussion. What are some of the things we can actually do without Government Permission?

Serve our Country in the Military? (Need permission, right?)

Is our Government too involved in our Freedoms and Rights?

Taking Drugs for me meant prescription drugs!

Your thoughts & comments are welcome.

Well said I agree with many of this we need government permission to what end? I also the problem why we need permission it's people especially like marriage because of the high divorce rate here in the US we always find away to get the government involved because people want their money just simple greed in that regard. Fishing the few ruin that for the many fishing in places where they shouldn't like protective zones because the few are just acting like idiots. The problem it's always the few morons who spoil it for the rest of us because greed and thoughtlessness of what they build and where COL Mikel J. Burroughs

Stage a military coup. It’s kinda perplexing, but Mattis is the only guy in DC who is adulting. I think the American people would actually welcome it at this point, especially if he had an economic plan to end the need for Feudalism. We could get back to the Founders’ economics and ethics. The Hydrogen Economy is prime for that.

Learn by listening, reading, watching thoughtfully. Pray. Help family members, friends and neighbors. Share thoughts and ideas. Write for ourselves or others. Be kind in word and deed. Enjoy nature, music, the arts.

wow that's a very interesting question, never given much thought about it but now that I do, I believe that as much as it sucks having gov involved , we need regulation otherwise we will create total global chaos.

Since it is government for the people, by the people, I would submit that we can do what we need to. In North Carolina, making moonshine according to the gov is absolutely illegal. It is illegal for one reason, our 'leaders' don't get a cut of the profits, and their big donors see their business reduced. That is not government, it is tyranny.

Actually most of the things on your list have laws governing them simply because a few people have abused that privelage and endangered either themselves or others. Government works on protecting the lowest of our citizens who have little education or common sense or both. However, now that there have been those in power who wished to expand government overview, we see an enlargement of these laws by the thousands of pages! As to what I can do without getting permission from the government the following fills my retirement quite well --

>> Military Reenactment;
>> Writing (No Publication);
>> Teaching myself to draw (No Publication);
>> Scratch built modeling;
>> Woodcarving;
>> Walking In the Woods;
>> Cooking In my Home;
>> Teaching Myself to Sew in cloth and leather;
>> Reading my books;
>> Repairing items in my house;
>> etc.

Sp4 Byron Skinner. Good morning Colonel Burroughs, a good question and I'm rater sure you posted it to provoke a discussion mostly negative. On your list I can justify all of the things that are listed with the exception of the collection of rainwater. Building a house, many reasons such as contributions to public services, but also building permits which hod the contractor responsible to the UBC, Drive a car, it to the public inters that drivers know how to drive and are physically and mentality capable of driving as well as vehicle insurance and in some states vehicle inspect. Go Fishing, In California back years ago any body could go fishing or collect mollusks at low tide pretty much at will. Abalone, Green Shrimp, Spiny Lobster when I a kid was down at the beach for the taking and toward the end of the month as a kid I collected these items with out a license or any government interference and soon they wed no longer their. Over fishing is a problem as you get more people and they want to eat. Hunt, depletion of wildlife, In San Diego Country there is no longer a deer season, even with tag control the California Mule Deer was hunted to the point its population is barely sustainable. I could go on Sir but I think you get the point.

family !!.. Since when they own the
ocean ?? Or how about you have ti pay to take you boat out the ramp on a marina ??
Or have a specific license to fish a specific fish ??? And measure the fish before you take in to the boat ??
Stupidity !! You know when the fish is ready to be consume or not !!

CPL -- Your views are the views of one singular family! Apparently, you do not realize that there are thousands of families in your situation. The money that you pay for the fishing licences is designed to goe intobuilding, maintaining and issuing new fishing wildlife to support your desire and thousands of others to fish for food or sport. They do not own the ocean, but someone somewhere must work and build to maintain the level of marine life. I do not fish, so why should I pay for such? It makes sense to charge those who fish for the privaledge. Someone had to build the boat ramp that you use, and someone has to maintain it. That costs money., Specific licences are necessary because certain species are far more desired than others, such as salmon as opposed to a dogfish! In some cases measuring a fish length is necessary to maintain the fish population. Some people wil take fish who are too small, and thereby reducing the number of usable fish in the total population. Such provisions are definately not "STUPID"! Not everyone is as thoughtful and skilled as you are in the approach to the maintenance of a balanced fishing occupation!!

I am a Veteran and was born in 1951. In my lifetime I have seen and felt the constriction of those who work for us getting tighter and tighter. Many times it seems they presume we do not know how to run our lives or that being a citizen means you do not pay attention. Many do not and that complacency has let them feel they have the power to rule over us. They do not, laws are for society to leave peacefully they say and yes laws are needed but not for the few but equal laws pertaining to all whether rich/poor aristocrat or beggar. Study history because those that lust for power and control over others never fare well and are brought to reality by the controlled having had enough. It will always be and I believe always will until greed and power have lost their interest and need of the few.

Hmmmm! How unfortunate for you! However, since I live in the same year, I find that my opinions are quite safe from anyone's attempt to altar them, except by solid proof that my opinions are in error!! Now if I take my opinions to the next stage and injure others in some way, then I must take the result of my actions by whatever authority this culture that I live in has mandated. Sometimes the problem is that some small part of that authority is biased, or pursuaded by some instance to ignor their sworn duty, and that is when people begin to tall stories, which get bigger and bigger the more they are told!!

CWO2 James Mathews You may have neglected to consider that there are some people who hold the view that if you are not with them 100% then you must obviously be against them 100% and are obviously the living strawman that you need. And deserve to be attacked. Because obviously the person who did not march in the gay pride day is hitler and this is obviously a world of black and white and no in between.

Recently, I had an issue with an online art group, one of the members of said group was very pro-pedophilia. And because I voiced an opinion on the subject and indicated that I felt that computer generated or not, that we don't need that type of that type artwork, I was banned from that group and tracked down to other groups and harassed in them because they felt that voicing an opinion against someone who was respected and in leadership was wrong.

Now myself being the bastard I am, decided to have some one on one talks with some of these people, I knew them in some IRCs and on discord and slack-chats, and I did this because I found it hard to believe that there were that many damn pedophiles engaged in CG art (although to be fair, it is an issue in that field) and after the second or third discussion I discovered something, these people had an inability to judge a situation on its own merit and often perceived that a conflict with the group on one point meant that you were opposed to it on every point.

And to their credit when I did talk with them, most of them did not approve of the practice of pedophilia and found it revolting, but there are some people who are so conditioned not to stick out of the group that they find anyone who makes the slightest ripple is a malcontent and will look at them through a filter that can only assign fault to any and all of their behaviors, and unfortunately with said filter they will overlook any and all of their groups faults.

And before you think I am utterly crazy, just keep in mind that there is a group of people who has felt that things such as milk and the moon were endowed with human agency and that agency was obviously racist.

My thanks for your very kind response to my comment. No, I do not think you are crazy, or a bastard! You have determined a way which satisfies you about how to deal with the problem. I guess, my problem is that I have never been in a position to deal with, in any way, the kind of people that you spoke with. While I am fully aware that there are such people in the world, and I take them into account in my daily activities, I am not close enough to discuss their views with them. Now there are some reasons for that:; I have never sought them out since I have better things to do. I am quite sure, without discussiing the matter, that my views will collide with thiers. I do not wish to fight with anyone, and so I tend to do what has proven to be beneficial for me, and let those who are much more intelligent than I, in phychological aspects, deal with those kinds of problems. Lastly, while I sympathize with those people whose minds differ from their physical bodies, but I do not understand it, and moreover, it is my belief that such individuals do not understand it either! Therefore, in my view, it would be best to keep my nose out of their problems, and let an expert handle any concerns that arise. I have had many people hate me, for what I demanded, for what I asked, and what I stand for, in my life. I learned early that one must stand for who he or she is. So far in my 80+ years that has proven to be a very satisfactory stance.
Respectfully;
Marcus Audens
