What can you do or say at Basic to ensure additional smoke sessions?

I was a bit older than most when I hit Basic, so got into trouble less. I was standing in line at the chow hall when a woman walked by (probably an officer's wife) and one person in our formation whistled at her.
By the time they finished with him, *I* was ready to cry -- or something.

It wasn't basic, but I had a Black Hat in Jump school ask me where I was from. I replied "Texas". He replied "YOU AIN'T FROM TEXAS! WHERE YOU FROM ?!" And my smart ass kicked in - " I'm from my Mother, I was raised in Texas". You can pretty much guess how the rest of jump school went for me.

I went to Fort Bliss for basic and we in the barracks doing cleaning and someone had order some pizza's and just as the the pizza's arrived so did the drill sergeants, well needless to say we did push up's and the drill sergeants had pizza for a snack.

At the time of the cold war I had all the guys in my platoon marching like Russian soldiers on parade in red square until the senior drill caught us and asked what the hell we were doing and my battle buddy replied "practicing march tovarishch starshiy serzhant! My battle buddy spoke Russian.

Like many others, my natural expression is a smile. What can I say? I am an optimist and I grew to really enjoy Basic and consider it my new home. So, I got smoked for that.
Also, drop your gear on induction day and instead of leaving it behind to join your unit on the pad, chase it and try to pick it all up. That got me almost half the drill sergeants in C Battery for the whole damned day.

Had much the same. Dad told me a story about his basic in the Air Force (1942 C47 pilot) and how a drill got on him, yelling and what not. Dad got tickled, as he understood this was all part of the process to put pressure you. Of corse, he got smoked. With that understanding going in, I had the same problem. But it was comical if you already understood what the purpose was, and , well, it made me grin. Down hill from there...

Your Dad had character. Sounds like you got at least some of your character from your Dad.

Be careful what you ask for because the group will want to kick your ass for bring hell down on the group!!! If you just want to get yourself into better shape ask the drill how they would recommend you go about that. Realize that smoke sessions are never solo in basic and when I was in basic as a platoon leader one of the drills pulled me aside before we went on our field experience. He told me he wanted me to take our platoon trouble maker in the woods and give him an attitude adjustment. He also informed me if he had to recycle it would not come back on me. We talked things over the next night and he told me to F OFF and I broke his nose and jaw. He recycled. Be careful that was old school army but some things never change.
