Tired of the same old fast foods? What would you prefer? Healthier choices? All you can eat buffet of some kind?
Dairy Queen? National chain restaurant?

I'm a "bring your lunch from home guy" but every now and then I venture off with some friends to the PX every two months or so.

It is better than BK for sure. We have them on just about every Army base I have been on.

get rid of BK, all these expensive off brands places like robin hood (subway is a better option), anthony's pizza (put a pizza hut or something), I would like to see a MYO yogurt place or something along those lines

In Ft Bliss I think they got it almost right, they have a little bit of everything to include a Longhorn if I am not mistaken and a Dennys

Either (1) lose the fast food OR (2) bring provide healthier food court choices to our Servicemen and women. We have got to nip this obesity/overweight/overfat issue while it is still in the bud. OH - and make the healthy choices price-competitive, too.

What changes do you want to see at the PX/BX food courts?

I would like to see some healthier choices at the PX/BX. Chipotle, deli, salad bar. Just places that use less grease on their food would also be nice.

I have never eaten at a Chipoltes, sounds like it is great place since another person suggested it too.

It most definitely is. Here is the closest Chipotle to Fort Benning:5295 Whittlesey Blvd, Suite 600 Columbus, GA 31909.
I would recommend going sometime.

I would like to see a mix of the healthy with the current unhealthy options. You have Soldiers that can eat the unhealthy stuff without worrying but there are many that have to constantly watch their weight. Going out to lunch with your section builds cohesion within the group but many opt out because there is no real selection for those that have to watch what they eat. They should also make the pricing competative. The overweight private is not going to spend more to eat healthier.

I overheard one Soldier telling me that he could eat BKs 4-5 times a week easily. I don't eat there and avoid fast food for most.

CPT Swartout,

I could easily eat garbage all day every day. I am really not a fan of "healthy foods", I happen to like cheese fries and Charlies more. With this being said, I go out of my way to try to eat healthy because my career depends on it. To be honest, I think this is the reason most Soldiers eat healthy. Doughnuts and bacon are more appealing than salad. With this being said, I don't think I could eat at BK that often. I would get sick of it and be 300 lbs quickly.

I'm currently TDY at Fort Dix, NJ, and stopped at a rest area in Maryland yesterday, I was very happy to see the "snack" store had a lot of fruit and healthier choices. I compare this to the PX. I think we all want convenience, so, it is relational to what is being served. I too bring my lunch to work. Only really eat out when I'm TDY (which is a lot lately).

My wife insists I bring lunch from home or I have to hear it from her why I didn't. Good way to finish leftovers.

I went TDY to Bliss last week and was AMAZED by the choices they have there, Buffalo Wild Wings, Irish Pub, Texas Steakhouse along with some healthier places to eat

I'd like to see a Super Salad buffet. A buffet of health green stuff would be awesome.

The Market Basket at the Pentagon has a great salad bar but it gets very expensive if you choose heavy food items since you have to pay by the pound.

I would like to see healthier choices since most at the PX are not. Chipotle would be a great option. :)

Food courts have come a long way. I remember when I enlisted (83), there were no national chains to be found on post/base. We had the AAFES Burger Bar (and it really wasn't all that good either). Burger King was the first to move on post if I remember right, followed by many others (I have seen Anthony's Pizza, Robin Hood Subs, Baskin Robbins, Charlies Steaks, Popeye's Chicken). I am surprised that there hasn't been a movement to healthier choices now that I read through what I have seen.

China Wok is the absolute worst place in the world...their food is horrible. Better Chinese option...personnally I would rather see the clubs in the states act the clubs overseas...different buffet everyday of the week.

I know some want better options for Soldiers but honestly if they will get their fix no matter what. Fast food is worse than crack and people who should not be eating it are the main ones and it doesn't matter what you do they will continue to eat this way.

China Wok here isn't great either. The rice was dried up and the chicken was overcooked. I heard worst from those who have been here for years when they go there to eat.

Panda Express in the Pentagon does a good job but you need to watch which items you choose to keep the calories low.
