What common uniform violation really just gets to you?

My pet peeve was seeing senior leaders power trip on middle rank NCO's and soldiers for petty uniform violations while obviously doing the wrong thing themselves. For example, I was once corrected for not having socks that were tall enough after having taken my platoon for a seventies mile run at altitude in the Colorado mountains to prepare for an upcoming deployment. The Sergeant Major who corrected me routinely skipped physical training despite numerous requests from the men of our unit that he join us. I felt that he was missing the bigger picture. This led not to the men wearing the correct uniform but rather caused the men to lose respect for thier senior leader who missed the big picture.

Out in public without a cover. People there are thousands of reservists out there that look exactly like civilians! They hang out in airports and city's even down country roads. Wear your damn cover! God knows you wear your civilian ball cap indoors another violation

One that really gets under my skin is improper wear of headgear. Things like someone's cover kicked back on their head like a ball cap or their beret covering half their face with the flash on the side of their head like they're a comic book character or SAS. Wear it right. I don't make the rules. If you don't like it, get out and go home.

Helmets I don't really care about. Unless you're on an honor guard, parade duty, a jump, or expecting to have to don nods or nvgs than there's no need to wear your helmet sinched tight to your grape like a nazi storm trooper. I do hate chinstraps myself, however if you're on the move whether on foot or mounted, do snap it on. I saw someone's helmet roll off their head when they were the turret gunner on a 50. Needless to say that it was flat as a fritter and about as useful as a third nipple after it got run-over by the truck behind him.

I hate it when a kevlar is sitting way back on their head. That's what I call sniper fodder.

What gets me is all the fleas ropes on the pocket flaps with the end turn up. It takes a few seconds min to iron the flaps and remove the strings. I'm retired and I have on set of ACU n BDU iron and hanging in my closet. Looking forward the ODS Greens my first uniform in 81 and a set of each derset uniform lost in a move

I'd have to say the new eolled sleeves policy in the army. The rolled up sleeves look ridiculous. We are trying to go back to the BDU era, but the BDU was a much better uniform than the velcro crap we have today.

What always bothered me was improper wear of the Beret, and improperly bloused trousers
