I'm hearing/reading people saying "I'm old school, therefore..." So out of curiosity's sake, where is that ever-moving line?

Old school is a scape goat for "I don't like this change" and/or "I refuse to evolve."
Anyone that tries to hold onto "Old school" is irrelevant in there current mind set and should seek grow as a leader and as a human. Change is inevitable, if you think complaining about it is going to do anything to fix it than step aside. If you don't agree with the change, first try and learn the "why" behind it. Second, if you still don't agree with it run it up the chain.

Don't forget the P-38 can opener on your dog tag chain that would open and stab you!

Old school was extremely verbal and almost always physical. I can give you a couple of samples. In Old School not much constraint was used in barking orders and you would have t jump run talk or it could become very physical very quickly. Example in the navy the cut off time was called rocks and shoals. Meaning that differences were physically discussed behind the after stack and whoever walked out was the one who was right, irregardless of rank or stature. The Navy ended that. Navy boot camp of which at this time I was attending we were required to wear leggings or spats. A politicians son developed blisters and the practice of leggings was done away with. In my opinion it was politics that did away with Old School. Now no harsh words or treatment only talk, discuss, convince a person to do something other than a direct order / or else. EVEN SO WE ARE STILL THE BEST MILITARY FORCE ON EARTH. ET- PO2 / SGT / TRAINING NCO /PATHFINDER /CB /BOSN. /COXSWAIN /HVY EQUIP OPER / PLOTTER /HELMSMAN / MACHINERY REPAIRMAN / INFANTRY.

Old School:
Used a P-38 to open C rations
Been paid money to pull someone’s CQ
Pulled CQ
Drank out of 2 qt canteen
Used a gas mask as a pillow
When everyone above the rank of E-5 has a CIB
Earned an EIB without being allowed any no god and were allowed to retest
Used a map and a compass
Drank from a lister bag
Wore Birth Control glasses
Attended JOTC at Ft. Sherman Panama
Used Heat tabs to cook chow in the field.
You knew how many trucks were on a post
You had to run PT in boots
You rode in a Huey
There were specialists ranks up to spec-the word Fuck was used as punctuation
