I'm hearing/reading people saying "I'm old school, therefore..." So out of curiosity's sake, where is that ever-moving line?

Watched Rambo at the theater at Ft. Bragg when it was new
Ran PT in boots
Ate C Rations that were nearly as old as you were
Smoked in the mess hall, motor pool, barracks in aircraft, etc....
Drove a M151
Learn to use the F bomb as an indicator of severity - as in - “you better fix this f$%king Jeep right f&%king now or I’ll have your a$$.....
Remember when lithium batteries used to blow up if submerged in water
Pulled shit burning duty in a 3rd World Country
Never heard of the term hazing and thought that’s what the FNG deserved
Fired an actual military issued 1911

I'm old school, ran in fatigues and boots. Wore the steel pot and if you messed up you got your butt kicked by the Drill Sgt. They didn't point a finger at you they literally kicked your butt

Wore cotton fatigues

Held the rank of e-4 sergeant in the airforce before senior airman was a non-commissioned officer rank

I retired from the Army 27 years ago: You ask what "Old School" is? Well, if your drill instructors gave you consequences for screwing up, such extra duty or extra push=ups, rather than a "Time Out". That's Old School. If you wore OD Green fatigues, not BDU's, that's Old School. If you can relate to everything Maj Petrarca mentioned, that's "Old School". If you had to shave everyday, that's Old School.

Those "old school" army guys are a hell of a lot tougher than the people serving today. I served twelve years in the old-school army, and am damn proud of it. The one clear victory was achieved by "the old school" that being Desert Storm and Desert Shield, and maintained the peace that followed the war.
