Not being allowed in the barracks during the day even if you were off...because command offices were in same building
No coed barracks
Report for pay in Class As every month
Bn, Bde, Post payday formations
Mandatory meeting with chaplain to get married...getting Command approval TO get married
Corrective training before UCMJ
4 to 8 mile runs not the minimum
Road marches no matter the type unit
The list goes on and on

There is a line? We did PT in fatigue parts, combat boots, and a t shirt. What are yellow shorts, lol

I witnessed the transition from steel pots to kevlar, M60 tanks to M1's, M16A1 to M16A2, Cobra's to Apaches, C-rats to MRE's, Fatigues to BDU's, and replacing my beloved M1911A1 with the M9.

Learned to drive a Jeep; had drill SGTs and platoon SGTs who were Vietnam veterans; spit shined leftover Vietnam boots with the W tread…ate C Rats, kept the can opener on your key chain…yes, yellow and green “banana suits” for PT.

Had no PT uniforms, ran in combat boots wore white T shirts and boxer shorts. Wooden ww2 barracks, Double bunks thin mattress. No Drill Sgts had platoon Sgts and a Field First for Senior Sgt. No MRE's had C rats. Pup Tents and M14's. OG fatigues.
