This is a general question. If you have a soldier who refuses to listen to you, as a non-commissioned officer, do you simply put the incident on paper?

Example given- A soldier has unauthorized sunglasses on in a formation. You tell the soldier to take the sunglasses off. He/she refuses.

On the 4856, do you recommend for UCMJ? I've gone thru 600-20 and cannot find anything regarding this

As a retired SCPO, I just want to smack him or her, and take the sunglasses away. However, that's not allowed any more. You CAN use his peers to change hius attitude by giving 5-10 minutes of close-order drill after the formation has broken up. If THEY take his sunglasses away and give him or her some special attention, you will not have any more problems in the future.

Yes. Counsel and then recommend UCMJ action. You can call Legal or JAG for the answers. They are more then willing to show where you can find the answer you need or what to write

Get it documented. Counsel, Counsel and Counsel. Then recommend UCMJ for not following a direct order and for wearing unauthorized sunglasses. Talk to the PSG and get guidance. You can cal Legal and get the answers you need if your PSG doesn't have the answer. It's quite simple really Failure to follow a direct order is UCMJ action, if the Soldier doesn't get it by then taking Rank, Money and Time will work. I guarantee it.

Well, I certain am not going to coddle the little bastard....
Counsel the soldier; if there's still an issue, UCMJ "non-judicial punishment"; or ultimately Courts Martial....
I wish we still had CCF (Combined Correction Facility) otherwise known as "Charlie's Chicken Farm"...

If it's a man, Crush his nuts!!!!

For females I guess you could crush he ovaries....

Smoke him smoke him till he pukes then smoke him some more then ask him if he wants to do this everyday until he complies ten to one he won't wear those sunglasses ever again in formation. But then again I was infantry and this is how we dealt with problems and I've heard the army has changed a considerable amount

I'm uncertain of the question's true intent. Is it to discipline the soldier for wearing any sunglasses at all, or for wearing sunglasses which are not military issue? For the former, if the soldier has PRK surgery, which is similar to LAZIK, the doctor will prescribe the wearing of sunglasses for months after the surgery. Hence, the soldier may have a temporary profile for the glasses. I don't know whether the same is true of LAZIK, but for soldiers who want jump status and want to correct their vision, last I knew, LAZIK was not an option, but PRK was acceptable to the Army.

I WOULD INFORM YOUR PLT LEADER AND LET HIM HANDLE IT, IF THE SOLDIER DISOBEY A DIRECT
ORDER FROM AN OFFICER THE OFFICER CAN MAKE A REPORT AND HAVE HIM BROUGHT BEFORE THE COMPANY COMMANDER FOR DISOBEYING AND OFFICER AND GIVE HIM AN ARTICLE 15, WHICH COULD INCLUDE DETAIL'S AROUND THE COMPANY, LOST OF RANK AND PAY, OR IF THE SOLDIER GET REALLY NASTY, BRIG TIME, AND POSSIBLE DISCHARGE FROM THE MILITARY

When I was a Butter Bar, I had an E-3 that had an earring in while in uniform, and was not at a required SERE briefing that I had set up. After instructing him to remove his earring, I called the SERE instructor to make sure he hadn't started, and instructed A1C Dirtbag to promptly go to the SERE brief promptly. 30 minutes later, I ran into him at the Exchange... with the earring back in. I had him give me the earring, which I threw into the trash, instructed him to return to the squadron building and go sit in the 1st Shirt's office and wait for me to come back, went shopping, called my Commander, and she and I went to the Shirt's office and had him fill out a 1088 to get him out of the squadron, and hopefully out of the Air Force. Maybe that could work.

Absolutely! Write him up for failure to obey lawful order as well as disrespect to an NCO and recommend company grade AR15
