Curently i have a dell t300 w/ 4x 73gb sas in a raid 5 config, intel xenon 2.5GHZ quadcore, running ununtu server with a mate desktop. Used to host my Plex media server, SABnzbd, transmission-bt, webdav, couchpotato server and nzbdrone.
I cut the tv cable cord.
Basically i use it till it wont boot no more.
Even my old laptops with burned out lcd, i disconnect the monitor, plug it into the kvm and now its a blade in my server stack.
Now if i can get linux distributed computing to work i would be great.

I bought a QNAP TVS-463 NAS running RAID 5 with 4x 3TB drives for my PLEX server with a second partition as a file server. I use an ubuntu thumb drive to run anywhere I may be; just plug in and boot from the thumb drive.

The t300 is used to auto transfer my iphone pics/vids. It happend to be that i have an extra 12 73gb sas drives. At 203 gb of data, lots of redundancy and plenty of spares.

It depends, previously I would reuse them for various purposes (Unix server, NAS, etc) however now I generally donate them to charity or local schools.
