Funny you ask this question. I get all my health care through the VA, my doctor, physiatrist, pills, everything, but not my dental. Dont ask me why, I don't know. So I had to go out and get my own coverage. What a pain in the ass. I found that they are mostly the same, depending on your deductible. All the plans I looked into had waiting periods for the major stuff, the stuff I need done of course. I pay 72. dollars a month and my deductible is nil. I really didn't have a plan on how to go about looking for a dental plan but I finally figured out what I needed.

The VA at Togus would not give me Dental unless I was 100% disabled.

I’m not covered for dental but I got a clerk at VA to get me on priority list at Univ Mi. I had to pay for the cleaning, like $35 .. no big deal, I just duludn’t wanT to wait 8 mo at the school. I pulled it off 3 times got fillings too. That was $35.. a filling.. Even though I paid I got chewed on for cheating the wait time.. the clerk didn’t let me cheat Any Vets just the welfare leeches the taxpayers were paying for.. my Chewing came from D.C. when Social services found out. They were not happy campers . The clerk got moved temporary for about a month.. U of Mi. Gave me park’g vouchers so that’s like $8 off my dental. visits Each time. $24.. total ..

Teeth are a lot like your car, routine maintenance can save a ton of money. Routine maintenance keeps you from maybe needing to get those high priced procedures done by keeping your teeth and gums healthy. Worth it to get the 6 month cleanings and check ups and even getting minimal dental insurance.

I would prefer to have Delta Dental over Humana, because there would be more dentists available, but your insurance is too expensive. I have 11 choices through Tricare Dental and your insurance is $100 a month more than Humana. As a matter of fact, your coverage is the most expensive of all 11 options. You pay less than Humana in intermediate and major procedures and have a max benefit amount. As long as you charge more for less benefits, I will not choose Delta Dental.
