What do you think about neon pink, orange, green running shoes?
I agree SFC Rosenlund. Not to mention most of these bright colored shoes are also reflective which means extra safety right? lol
Here's my thought. Why do we care so much about the socks, (length, branding, color) but could care less about the shoes? It makes no sense what-so-ever. A soldier can wear hot pink, throw-up green, chemlight shoes, but he better not have on grey socks??? What's the premise? It is stuuuupid. It takes the whole purpose of uniformity away.
Pick one or another. Everyone better have the same PT belt but 4,000 different colors of shoes.
Lots of companies make white socks, where less make bland color shoes. It's not really feesable if you look at it. You would have to have an approved shoe list. That would prevent many quality shoes from being worn. The approved shoes may not fit all soldiers' feet.
Honestly I don't get what the problem is, it is really the only place a soldier has that he/she does not have a limitation on. They wear them at best two hours a day, you can critique their uniform everywhere else, what problem is this one item causing?
I'm a minimalist runner, always have been. I prefer my merrel's and my five fingers...of course I can't wear my five fingers in uniform, but my merrel road runners are bright green...because that was all that was left in stock. Running in normal tennis shoes kills my feet, my shins, and my joints.
Also if my chain of command can catch me when running, then I'll consider changing the color ;)
