What do you think of noncitizens voting in American elections?

First of all, I hope I know the answer to this question, but one never knows, so I'm asking.
Today, in the "People's Republic of Maryland," this story broke: Non-citizens may be voting (http://www.wtop.com/46/3732751/Md-official-Noncitizens-may-be-voting). I believe it's a valid concern and something should be done to stop it.

It is one of the only differences between being a citizen and a non-citizen, beside obligations such as jury duty.

CW5 Montgomery--I once posed two questions to political candidates, and they went blank: (1) what is the difference between a citizen and a non-citizen in terms of rights and obligations? (2) What happened to the Peace Dividend (I posted that one on RP). Citizens, it turns out, have more obligations than they do "rights" compared to non-citizens.

a citizen can and should vote === a non citizen get's full boat with social security and other benefits as for me I'm tired of our government giving illegals all these benefits and taking kick backs for them self's giving them self's pay raise's and cutting benefits from the veteran then telling the American public that our coffers are empty

its simple they want us all dependent on the state what better way to insure continuity of government and an illegal voter base would vote for anyone willing to give them more hand outs no matter what there other policys are or there track record because these illegals dont care for this country they care about getting away from there collapseing systems so they run to us because we will give u all the handouts u want and politicians know that if there constituates want vote for them in the numbers they need they can give illegals a handout and get there vote its like stealing an election in a very smart underhanded way i could go on but the info is out there if you are willing to look

US Citizenship is a federal issue. If someone legally lives and pays taxes in a state, they should be allowed to vote on local issues. No taxation without proper representation.

If a law were to pass allowing Non-National People to vote.
Our Political System would be More of a joke than it is already.
Think about all the Make Believe, and Fictitious people that would suddenly be Created to gain more votes for what ever party Needed them, and were willing to CHEAT !!
There have already been allegations of parties using Dead Peoples Voter IDs to cast votes for themselves.

Legal or illegal non citizens? In my opinion if you are serving in the U.S. Armed forces to gain a citizenship then maybe but part of the right of being a citizen is the right to vote. All these illegal immigrants abusing the election system by voting needs to be stopped. Illegal immigration is exactly that, "illegal." And they should not have the right to vote. They are already having a hand in destroying our education system and causing an overwhelming and unnecessary burden on our healthcare system as well. Let's not forget to mention the abuses non citizens cause on welfare as well. So no they do not deserve the right to vote!

I don't know how other states does their voting. But in California, you need to register to vote via DMV. Once you are register to vote, you can go to the voting booth and vote by showing your ID/Driver's License. In Washington State, you register to vote the same way, however, they send you a ballot during voting season. You pick your candidate, as the voting ballot comes with a booklet about each candidate. Once you are done, you put it in the enveloped and sign your name. The signature has to match your signature on file or it will be returned.
So I don't know how an undocumented immigrants can possibly vote without first registering and presenting the documents necessary to validate their citizenship.
