I would like to hear her reasons to do this.  But yes this is way out of line.

It's disgusting.

Additionally, I think this horse has beaten to death, with it floating around the social media world.  Could we close this discussion and remove this disgusting photo from the mix?  I for one am tired of looking at it every time I turn around.

While I believe that this photo brings disgrace to the Air Force, at what point is punishment warranted, and what is the goal? The photo was taken 3 years ago, since then the Airmen has been promoted and has apparently performed well. UCMJ shouldn't be used as "revenge", but as a chance to correct the flaws in our Service Members.
If a Soldier makes a mistake and spends the next 3 years doing the right thing, is it beneficial to punish the Soldier for that mistake 3 years after the fact?

Yes, Perfect example the CSM at Bragg that had previously kicked out and given a BCD under his name and SSN, but then 5 years later used his older brother's birth certificate and SSN and came back in and made it all the way up to CSM after 25 years, but then was convicted and forced out because of his integrity from 25 years earlier and during his career, he wasn't punished for what he lied about during his career but for what he did 25 years earlier and he was productive and was promoted from E1 all the way to E9.

Exactly. In the CSM's case he had tried repeatedly to correct it in his career and was told he could not. He tried to do the right thing, move forward with integrity to rectify a mistake as a Private, and was punished later for it.

Actually he only tried to correct it when his brother found out and told the IRS he had never served in the military, and he also was collecting BAH for a family he no longer had knowing it was wrong and never attempted to get it stopped until after caught, he only tried to rectify everything after the fact not during the 25 years he was being a fraud and burning his subordinates for lesser integrity issues, a total disrespect to all that served and sacrificed as well. And to top it off his only punishment was reduction to E7 and allowed to retire with full benefits, he will still be paid at his highest rank attained (E9) and receive all benefits including whatever disability claim he files with VA, his is a much greater disgrace and slap in the face for everyone to include me who has served honorably and has to fight for everything I have sacrificed for through my family and the loss of brave friends.

Inappropriate and disrespectful, definitely a failure in judgment. I concur with SGT Lee, if the photographer is military then that person should also be held accountable. I'm not sure we need to punish as much as we need to correct. Even in this age of draw down, let's not be so hasty to throw the baby our with the bath water. Investigate, see if there are other incidents, if this a part of a pattern of behavior or isolated case of misjudgment. It's not like she got a DUI and killed someone, but it is very disrespectful.

The commander of that unit should decide, we are not judge and jury.  Posting the photo again is just as bad as the original posting, this is social media and there is regulations against that. United States Code Title 36 chapter 10 has the regulations pertaining to flags.

This isn't a flag that is found under US Code Title 36 Chapter 10. It is a logo of POW/MIA that can be on a flag but still is not covered under the regulation you posted.  The regulation is for the U.S. Flag and no other.

This is a good topic minus the picture posted.

That's funny because if you read all of title 36 chapter 10 and go all the way down to § 189. Recognition of National League of Families POW/MIA flag, and U.S.C. title 36 § 902.

I stand corrected i didn't see the concrete wall in the picture. But is still think this picture should be removed from the posting. Displaying this picture is still disrespectful and that's why my vote down stays. Re-posting this picture is just as disrespectful as the news, newspapers and magazines posting pictures of James Holmes, Seung-Hui Cho and Anders Bering Breivik. Like the victims and families of need to see it. What about victims of POW/MIA? do they need to see this.

I'm done with this so go ahead and prove your point however you want to. Hope you benefit with a lot of points off this crap. I will remove my negative vote when the picture is gone along with my postings.

Thank you for contributing to the discussion.  The reposting of this picture is of value and not the same thing as the original picture.  It is a valuable way to show other soldiers what wrong looks like....it also gives the opportunity to educate those that may lean toward thinking this is ok by seeing all those posts that state this is a bad thing.  Your comments go along way to help that and I'm glad you decided to contribute.  Keep up the good work!!
