Freedom is an illusion. No person is free. Usually they are beholden to the chains and the cages they build for themselves. True freedom is only gained by giving up societal norms which constrain and restrain you, requiring you to live by your own moral guides, doing what you want when you want. People misunderstand true freedom and attempt to measure it on a scale. X country is more "free" than Y country. Often we mistake the word democratic for free. There is much confusion because the term is not defined. Freedom is an illusion.

It means choosing your own path in life without fear. I've been in countries with caste systems, legal discrimination, and state religion. I've seen minorities openly persecuted with no response from their government. We are not perfect but I am proud to be an American

Freedom is being free from coercion or threat, as long as I am not threatening or using force against another. Of course, the United States hasn't been free for anyone since before the Civil War, and especially not since 1913.

CDR Michael Goldschmidt - Exactly that. We have to put in work to stay free. We have to be engaged and say proactive in the world. Your are no longer free the moment you put your guard down and you let other entities control your way of life.

COL (Join to see) - It's not coercive, for instance, to say "don't murder someone". It is, however, coercive to say "pay us some percentage of your income". One is simply saying that it is not alright to infringe on others' rights. The other is infringing on your own.

Any law that has a punishment is coercive in nature. If you do this, then this will happen...and it will be bad. That's coercion. I guess you would have to be inclined to break the law beforehand. So in your example I would have to want to kill someone. If I didn't want to kill someone and the law was there, I guess it wouldn't be coercive.

It means that I, and my family and friends can bask in the sunlight of this land that I love. Do as we choose to live our lives inside of the laws we have.

Being able to live Your day to day life without interference from the government that should be serving You NOT making You a subject and exploiting You. The government that governs least governs best and We certainly don't need them controlling every aspect of our life ! Far too often government grows well beyond the needed day to day functions to provide service and also protect us and give us safety each day to become far too controlling of our existence and eroding our individual and family Freedom.

That's a great question SSG (Verify to see). Having never been a slave (although in my limited imagination, basic training may be my closest brush with it) I can only imagine some of the best things I have experienced would never have happened... hell, at my current age, if a slave I'd never have lasted this long.
On a beautiful day can a slave say screw (whatever he was scheduled to do) this, and go for a speedboat ride or go skiing after a perfect snow blanket was laid by our Creator? Can a slave go on a tropical vacation and meet the love of his life - and pursue her? What slave has ever designed and built his imaginary "perfect dwelling"? Or crashed a wedding, or mooned traffic from a speeding vehicle, or streaked mamasans doing their laundry during TET 1968? THANK GOD, I am an American, and was blessed to experience the best life I could ever have imagined!

Saying no to liberals, socialists, Democrats, open borders, gin control, riots, de-policing, and embracing America, democracy, the West, capitalism and peace through strength.

To me freedom means having a choice to run your life the way you think it should be run as long as it doesn't interfere or cause any harm to another human being, innocent human being. Freedom is not free and we know more than anyone that fact. It means responsibility to our fellow man or fellow American and our government to make sure the right things are being done all the time.AATW just a little picture of freedom and true Homeland security
