So today we found out for our upcoming deployments where we will be heading and what our takings should be. My name is under ECP-Tower. Which I know is entry control point/guard tower but can anyone tell me what that entails? Anyone been a 68W and deployed with this tasking?

Guarding the gate (Entry Control Point) and/or sitting in a tower watching for the Mongolian horde trying to breach the wire.

Damn Atropians will probably be around too

Not to be too negative, but don’t get too married to the idea you’re exclusively Assigned - the roster often says one thing but you get assigned to do something else.

You as a medic will generally not be manning the ECP - you’re a medical resource they can’t easily replace. However, medics often can be assigned to the QRF element in case there is an incident that requires a medic.

As a company commander I had guys sitting in towers who had over a year long AIT to repair electronics. Huge waste of their talents.

What does the task ECP/Tower mean I will be doing on deployment?

It means there is no real threat or need for medical personnel, so instead of treating life threatening illness like gonorrhea, you’ll be some SOG’s bitch. SOG stands for sergeant of the guard. Can’t remember if the Army uses that term, but it was a thing in the Marines. At any rate, enjoy your “deployment.”

When your boots hit the ground the plan most likely will go out the window... Semper Gumby (Always Flexible).
Enjoy the view... and be ready to whatever is needed.

You being a medic, You should pull your share of guard duty.
How ever your main duty should be Medic duty.
If you are still in 2/22 1st BCT. Then nore thank likely you will be a line medic or at a AID-STATION.

If this is to Qatar, you'll likely be replacing my Soldier in our S-3 shop lol. Zero medical mission here.
