Having the strength of mind, that enables a person to encounter danger with firmness, and personal bravery.

It’s character and courage in the face of a threat. Any threat. Leaving aside the obvious context of valor in combat for a moment, I see valor outside of that arena when someone has the courage to stand up to pressure from seniors or others because what they are being asked to do is morally, ethically wrong or illegal. Being willing to accept significant unpleasant consequences rather than compromising one’s moral principles is also, in my opinion, a valorous act.

Taking action without regard for personal safety, to protect/serve others. Facing your own fear, and carrying on in spite of it.

Valor is the reflection of your personal courage in times of danger or great crisis. Valor is the rallying cry that amps people up for the battle ahead, the spirit of courage that flows and builds until the threat and danger of what is happening is no longer in the mind. It is the primal calm of embracing your fight mode in your fight or flight response.

Valor is the definition of altruism. Without regard for self, or personal costs, one puts the needs of others/the mission before themselves in order to accomplish that in which is in need regardless of personal gain, or recognition, almost always in the face of danger.

Valor is not bravery, risk taking, or social pressure. Valor is the very essence of a person which is instilled within his heart, body, mind and soul from childhood. Valor can definitely be shown on the battlefield, but also exists in everyday day life by doing the right thing, standing up for the weak, unpopular person, simply by rising to the event while all others coward in the background. Valor is righteousness, fearlessness, overcoming fear, determination, duty, honor and putting America first! Valor, doing the right thing, is everywhere, on the battlefield, in the streets, in the classroom, in the home. Valor has been transmitted, shown and defined (redefined) in American history by the American Veteran!
