Idk but films I liked were March or Die, Born on the 4th, We Were Soldiers, GI Jane, Reverant, and many of the old black and white films.

Best film that portrays life in uniform? Hands down In the Army Now, by Paully Shore. Seriously too. Other films might do a better job of portraying battle, deployment, honor, brotherhood, but actual military life? In the Army Now.

For me at least, "Good Morning Vietnam" -- I briefly served under a specific Sergeant during my tour in Korea with Radio Gypsy (AFKN) and he was as RA as portrayed in the film. That would have been fine -- except at the time I was the only USAF airman serving north of the 38th parallel and I was (and am) nowhere as talented as Robin Williams. He was transferred to Nam after I was there two months -- and I ended up with another Army type not as RA, but who disliked the Air Force.
I was supposed to stay with TAC and go to Greece in the same type of job, after my time in Korea, but like all things military in them thar days, while on leave those orders were cancelled and I was transferred to SAC in the USA where the alternatives in my AFSC kicked in.

"The D.I." Jack Webb as Tech Sgt Jim Moore. Only thing missing was the cursing. Vietnam movies? An obscure Aussie film titled "The Odd, Angry Shot" was as close as any to what I remember in-country.

All I know is that the first time I encountered "Full Metal Jacket" I was sleeping and found myself on my feet, at attention at the end of my bed. LOL. Full metal Jacket is the closest thing to ACTUAL Marine Corps boot camp as I have found.
