What flag will people mistakenly go after next? Maybe the Gadsden Flag?

In light of all the recent flag "controversy" do any members think that this flag will be attacked next?

I hope not. The Gadsden Flag was a favorite of mine, even before it was co-opted by the Tea Party.
Personally, I think that these little "contraversies" only serve as distractions from real issues. I can think of a hundred things more pressing than Confederate Battle Flags.
We are so busy talking about and being "outraged!" by things that don't matter that important issues go by the wayside or are addressed unnoticed.
I think that there are those who benefit from that, and we are playing into their hands.

1SG (Join to see), I couldn't agree more. One of the reasons I started this thread was to illustrate how ridiculous this whole flag fiasco is getting.

MSG Healy,
I whole heartily agree with you these controversies are just a distraction. Personally, I don't see why we should attempt and eradicate the history of a nation this country is what it is because of that history. The last I checked, history doesn’t have to be something we are proud of but something we should learn from. Taking down a flag will not change the mindset of an individual. If one is a bigot flag or not he will be a bigot

I jokingly made the remark that PETA will go after this flag; because it promotes the stepping on of snakes. This knee jerk reactionary liberalism needs to stop before Doctor Suess Books are next on the "offensive" materials list. Come on people we need to wake up and smell the coffee; or is that offensive too?

CPL Richard Flagg, coffee is offensive! It comes from third-world Hispanic countries where workers perform back-breaking manual labor for slave wages! :)

They could. After all the narrative is much more important than reality in these cases. They're doing their best to erase America's history and culture so this flag might really be next. However, I woudl bet money this entire flag and statue show down has been to set the stage to remove the American Flag. Although if you think about it while the Rebel Flag has caused a stir removing the Gadsgeen and especially the American Flag will provoke attack and real protest.

It has already been under attack... Granted it was in a neighborhood association.... But still

The Gadsden flag was not flown by a group proposing the dissolution of our union. Quite the opposite it was flown by some of the first people proposing that we be an o
Independent nation from England. Furthermore it was not a symbol of racism, hatred and divisiveness.

SN Earl Robinson
Sgt. Jeremiah Brookins, I am still waiting for someone to say one positive thing the CFB stood for beyond Racism, bigotry, hatred and divisiveness! Can you answer that question?

PO1 John Miller
SN Earl Robinson, I feel sorry for you if that's what you think. I suggest you read up on Civil War history and find out for yourself that the war was firstly about state's rights and not slavery.
Also, racist groups such as the KKK and other white supremacist groups have chosen to fly not only the Confederate Battle Flag, but also the Gadsden flag and yes, even the US flag. So how is it that the CBF can be construed as racist but not the other 2 flags?

Yes and the American Flag. We have issues now, with the patriot shirts etc. in schools... PO1 John Miller

It was a joke, sir. A lot of patriotic shirts would be honorable mentions in the "ugly tshirt" category of a fashion contest.

And I'm only aware of a few incidents where that stuff was considered offensive by an administrator and was promptly shot down once people got wind of it. This is a big country so finding idiots isn't hard and the internet/24 hour news cycle loves to make that kind of crap seem waaaay bigger than it is.

Mississippi is next. However, I agree with Rush Limbaugh that all the anti flag nonsense is or will lead to changing or replacing the Stars and Stripes.

PO1 John Miller: My prediction is that in 20 years, after what is sure to be an all out media and progressive educational campaign, we will be in the minority on this issue. The 20 somethings will not even be able to understand why we would be clinging to our outdated "nationalist" symbols and belief systems.

CW2 William Nelson: I'm not quite so pessimistic. I'm fairly positive that the United States will still be here in 20 years. However, its autonomy on the world scene (economically, politically, and possibly militarily) will be somewhat limited from where it is today. For whatever reason, our politicians, economic leaders, and maybe even military leaders are sending us down the path of the European Union. I don't even know if it will be a bad thing or not. I am sure of one thing, we are living in interesting times!

The Shifting Symbolism of the Gadsden Flag
How do we decide what the “Don’t Tread on Me” flag, or indeed any symbol, really means?
