Currently in the process and not much information about what the reserves component is like for 37F. I know it is different than active and there is no selection. I was curious what drills are like and what the deployments are like considering 37F Reserves deploy more. I asked my recruiters and none of them really knew much about the job or specifics.

You will deploy a lot, both combat missions and other missions, I.e. state department missions. You will never have to worry about making up days for the year. 75% of the PSYOP strength for the Army is in the reserves so you do the math, the reserve component carries a lot of the weight. It’s a great job in the reserves though. Although if you have family you have to tell them you will be gone a lot. Between deployments and schools it’s a lot of time you will be giving to Uncle Sam. And I hope you have an understanding civilian job. At times it felt like I was back on active duty. But it truly is the best job in the Army!

Active duty deploys A LOT. Reserves... You’ll MAYBE get a rotation to everywhere but the Middle East every 5 years. Reserve missions are much different than Active.

Since when did that start? I was in 12 POB and I went to Iraq and Afghanistan within a 2 years of each other and could’ve gone on more. And from I’ve heard from guys in my old unit op tempo hasn’t changed much. Of course I could be totally wrong? SGT (Join to see)

I agree with SSG Chirco. I was with the 352POB before it became the 12POB, then went on to 14 POB, an 7th GOP and USACAPOC. I deployed to Iraq twice and Afghanistan once, also Bosnia, Kosovo and Haiti. Also went on training missions to South Korea, Guam and through out the states. So you do deploy a lot. I with them from 1985 to 2007 and I enjoyed the mission and camaraderie.

As a 37F10, your unit will focuse on polishing your MOS proficiency performing the 7 Steps PSYOP Process and unique PSYOP equipment. Additionally, soldiers skills and never ending equipment maintenance. If lucky, am airborne operation once every 3 months if the unit has paid parachutist positions.

Best of luck on your endeavors!

Go visit a unit as a guest and shadow them... ask questions... bring doughnuts and pizza.
