How many rounds is a combat load for MK19? I’m having trouble finding the answer in the manual

It won’t because it is mission dependent, relates to the CSR/RSR, and availability. A planning factor I’ve seen used is one can per weapon loaded and another can as backup.

Page B-23, sub paragraphs B-68 thru B-70. Doesn’t specifically state the amount for combat load. In general the leader decides the amount of ammunition needed for the mission.

What is a combat load of MK19 rounds?

As many as you can tie down on your truck. Use the 48 count can in the Mod1, and keep extra 32s below. I’ve burned through 60+ rounds during a single TIC, and we just drove through.

It's said, ammunition comes in cans that hold a 32- or 48-grenade belt weighing 42 and 60 pounds.

Attach everything to the mk93 mount and use the box as your guide Sgt. If it's on the a vehicle you will still use the box adapter. Then lay the belt in the proper outlined fashion.

Keep extra ammo in your truck because you're probably looking at 50 rounds or so Max that your Gunner is going to have up on the turret. So have someone ready to pass him new boxes on the go.

This is if you're not on an automated turret

I wont pretend to know anything at all about the Mk19 or it's ammunition, but is stowing that much extra explosive ordinance inside the vehicle a good idea? Does it have potential to cook off if an IED breaches the vehicle? Again I 100% admit I have no experience with this weapon system or it's operation, just wondering.

SPC Angela Burnham; Yes it's the same concept as carrying extra ammo. It all can cook off but you need it regardless for fire superiority

I can send you my PowerPoint for the mk19 and m2a1 for teaching which outlines history, uses, ranges, loads, sighting in, effective distance vs real distance, vehicle vs ground mounts, etc etc. Just send me your email. I will gladly help.
