Consider where the term originates, who it was created for, and why. This is an actual question, so we're not doing any comedy in here.

Safe space is supposed to be an Internal mindset. Kind of like finding your happy place. The use of an actual safe place is counter productive. In my PTSD treatment I am constantly urged to push my comfort limit. These so called safe spaces at college campus. They mean well I'm sure, but hiding from your problems in the world at such a young age. Can only have negative social consequences. I have watched my daughter have friends over and they never talk. They just sit and text each other, when they are in the same room. It s crazy

I'm not too familiar with college safe spaces, but from what I've read, it's not meant to shield students from dissenting opinion. Creating a safe space allows people a place where they are free from fear. I do agree that comfort limits need to be pushed in order to become more functional, but I think a safe space can act as a fail-safe if you bite off more than you can chew.

SSG Jessica Bautista - As we all know from experience what is intended is often not what we get. I am sure the original idea was to give students a place to regroup after being abused. what we got was a mindset that we can wish away dissenting or unpleasant ideas or opinions by using the magic word Safe Space and as a result, our colleges are growing man-children incapable of dealing effectively with the modern world.
I may be a throwback but when I heard about blue cards the first time I thought someone was pulling my leg. I could not believe that anyone thought that this would ready recruits in any way shape or form to face combat, and let us be frank, that is the real possibility that everyone who puts on the uniform has/had to face.

No idea.......but the idea of "safe space" isn't actually safe. I honestly think that it's worse.
