On the Warrior Police book, let me also caution you, this was driven by the Commandant at the time, who was an 89th/720th guy, so that is often the focus.

Both of the books previously mentioned, "Warrior Police" and "Breaking Iraq", are very good accounts of contemporary Military Police operations, however, if you are looking for the "best book on the history of the Military Police", let me recommend "Military Police" from the Army Lineage Series. It can be ordered directly from them by following the link below. Although it is a little dated now, the other two books mentioned serve as great updated supplements to it.
