I do believe it was in Platoon, the M16 was loaded with obvious blanks.

TV movie blooper with a military twist: in the 70s, we had stock footage of the the launch of many Boeing 747s. When the shot changed to gear retraction, footage of B-52 gear retraction was shown. Apparent to BUFF crewdawgs & maintainers, but to the sheep, not so much.

Firebirds, one that is never discussed within the Apache community. In 1989 the Army did not have Apache D Longbow Block I's. If you watch the movie they switch back and forth between A Model and D model Sim cockpits. SMH.

The sound of incoming Artillery, Sorry Civies the one that is coming for you, will have finished you off before you ever hear a sound. If you hear it, it has already gone by.

I think that I'm just not going to respond in depth but I'd have to say that Hollywood deplicts movies from the eye of the beholder in their personal view, it's about what appeases the public, not the actuality of real life events, I have family that own a grip company and when ya talk to people that write the scripts and that have never been in the service and that haven't ever been to war much less even gone they basic, their perception is blood, guts and glory. I have never seen a motion pic that even comes close to representing real life struggles of war, blood, guts, and glory, with pain and suffering

You might be correct to a point... the producer calls the shots (pardon the pun) and what not... but there still should be a paid military adviser help with the over all look. Especially when getting basic details, communications ("over and out"), uniforms (incorrect rank, shoulder board on the collar, etc) weapons (carrying them correctly, ammo count)... the list goes on... Platoon, Saving Private Ryan, Three Kings, are just a few examples of Hollywood movies that still used advisers so sure they were 'Hollywood' but at least they put some effort (and had their production mistakes)... An example of one that if they had an adviser he/she should of been fired was Basic...

Few seem to wear head gear correctly, especially berets.
