The second GI Joe, ya the end when they’re handing out awards, Lady J’s uniform was completely mixed up with Marine Corp and Army items, IE the Eagle, Globe and Anchor on an Army Uniform, all while wearing a beret. I mean through out the whole movie uniformity didn’t seem to be a priority, but that one stuck out the most with me.

When military types in movies shout the phrase “stand down!” Pisses me off. Never happens.

Commando, where Arnold by himself takes out a whole batallion. Oh yea, and he rips off a metal tube from the wall and impales Bennett with it.

“Panzers.” I understand that real, operational German armor is very rare. But quite a few movies simply used contemporary American tanks, invariably painted gray with giant Balkan crosses and huge red numbers, to represent them. Fury was one of the few movies I know of which had an actual panzer (a Tiger I which had been captured in Tunisia in 1943 by the British). Even dressing up modern armor as panzers is fine by me (Saving Private Ryan with its T-34 Tiger but apparently original Marders, Band of Brothers with its assortment of panzers based on British APCs), but simply taking what’s available and painting it gray doesn’t do it for me.

Saving Private Ryan - Using your medic in an assault on a machine gun nest. As soon as they took off I turned to my girlfriend and said, “Bet you anything the medic’s going to die”. After the assault I walked “How did you know”? I replied, “that’s why you don’t use your medic in the assault”.

I detest sloppy salutes. I can count on one hand the number of proper salutes. Oh wait, no I can’t.

Where to begin? Never ending magazines, calling magazines “clips”, the weapon firing with the safety on, single action weapons firing with the hammer forward, everyone forgetting that there is a round in the chamber that can be fired even though the magazine is released, using incorrect ammunition for the weapons they use, people ALWAYS having their grubby fingers on the trigger, and last but certainly not least, the cocking/chambering/racking of a shell to somehow signify “it’s about to go down”.
