Craziest thing I observed in PLDC in 1997: We had just come in out of the field, and one guy had a tick on his butt. The other guy,, with tweezers in his hand: "Hope the SSG doesn't walk in on this." Hilarious.

SSG (Join to see) 'We' once had a tire problem when I was on crutches. A fellow stopped and changed the tire for us. When he tried to refuse the $20 I offered him, I said,; take it, and pass it on when you are able!

Oh My! Probably the most Notable would be my Relationship with HM3 Robert "Doc" Tulip. He was something else. Lots of Unique Events Involved him. Wiping out my Moped coming in Nimitz Gate and have him patch me up on the sly (He had a Minnie Emergency Room in his Barracks Rm) before I went on Leave. Another time going out with Doc and another guy to watch Blow Hole on the East Side and when we went to return (Drunk) I went to get in to the Van Grabbed the Pannel and the Front Door Frame to pull myself in and he jumped into the front and slammed the door on my Hand, It shut tight and secure with my hand in it. Took me a minute to get his attention to look down. Never a good thing to see a Corpsman Face go White. He Opened the door and every finger was dislocated and pointing backwards or reverse of where they should. He explained the Procedure for relocating fingers and asked if I wanted him to do it there, If I wanted to do it or wait until we got back across the island and go to the Dispensary to have it fixed. I took several more swigs of Whiskey and reset them myself. Another time we had to call the Ambulance for one our mates that drank too much at a Barracks Party and had Alcohol Poisoning. They loaded him up put an IV 1 in each arm and off they went. Several Hours Later he returned to the Party and we asked him what had happened. He said he has no idea. He woke up in Cripler Hospital, Pulled the IVs out of his Arm and walked back to the Party. Some seriously crazy times in Pearl.

CSM Charles Hayden Passed 7/29/2025 - Always good to have a Corpsman as your Drinking Partner when getting into mischief. I ran with an Interesting Crew in Hawaii.

LTC (Join to see) Found bird eggs and cooked them with some canned Danish bacon he had stashed away when we couldn't be supplied with rations for weeks on a hill in Vietnam.
PS--The eggs tasted like crap.

Walking to town to buy rice in rural Afghanistan. When the unit before us and the unit after us (4th BCT, 4th ID) required minimum 20pax in 4 up-armored vehicles to buy rice. Way to be brave and connect with the local population 4/4.
