Carepackages
Just curious to what stands out the most, trying to get away from some of the more serious topics that have been trending.

Sometimes we get stuff from well intentioned (but poorly thought out) civilians...that makes us just laugh, or just say "why?".

For me, it was 168 twinkies....don't know where they came from or why....but they were tasty with our morning coffee.

Not received by me nor was it deployment. However someone had a friend in Australia who enjoyed less than practical jokes. So the guy in my plt received a novelty blow up sheep, with voice box during basic.....

We got one of those in OIF, but decided to use it as a dustcap for our .50 cal. Needless to say, we turned some heads when we rolled onto BIAP :)

My squad leader got an inflatable sheep, with a package of cotton balls to make it more "realistic"

A Cashmere sweater...and pink of all colors... with a care package containing milk chocolate pieces that had long since melted in the ziplock bag they were in.
I gave it to a local national girl in a little town near Tikrit

I really did not have anything strange but my buddies were opening a care package from home and when they pulled the magazines out they did not take off the name of who purchased them and it was me. They were my sporting magazines that I was getting from home and my friends mom gave them to the unit to send to the troops. I was WTF though are my magazines. I was laughing about it.

Whelp....that was a downer.....hence why I was more specific about the time period since we know those tree hugging hippies didn't care about our brothers and sisters during that time frame. I'm very sorry to hear that CPL....your generation deserved much better.

Cpl Doug Beckett Got to remember that we weren't all too popular back then. Even family disappointed in us.
