I've seen this a couple times in person and on someone's page, I was just wondering what the official guidance is. I'm assuming that since it is not expressly forbidden under AR670-1 that it comes down to the commander's discretion, just looking for clarification. Thanks!

Beats the crap out of the Garrison Cap. I was really glad to see that thing go. The Garrison cap was fine, even good looking BACK when it could be worn cocked to the right and tilted forward. "Tow fingers off the ear and One off the eyebrow, like in World War Two, but when they changed the regulation to it having to be worn straight up and down in line with the center of the face, that ruined that hat. That along with making it so stiff that it could not be broken on the ends. As seen from the front the final version of the Dress Green Garrison Cap looked like a Dunce Cap. We used to call it the Dopey the Dwarf hat. The privilege of earning the right to wear a beret is one reason I went to Jump School.
I know it is coming back with the AGSU. I do hope that the Service Cap for the AGSU can be worn like Gen Miley is wearing it, with a stiffener because this new Service Cap with the copy of the "50 Mission Crush" and the High front design just looks stupid.

I believe it can be worn with or without the liner. I agree with you, the liner out has a history with the Army air corps and many people don't realize that it also served the purpose of allowing then to wear the cap with their headphones on, I think it looks ridiculous without the stiffener as well. To your point, I like having the beret for only airborne and above, those communities at least know how to shape it lol.

That's what I think too! Honestly, I like the service cap a lot better than the beret unless you're Airborne, Ranger or Special Forces.

Your right LT, unless you fit in those categories, just stick with the service cap. The service cap looks way better. It better compliments the dress uniform in my opinion. Also, I accidently blocked you while viewing your profile. My bad man! Rookie move.

If it doesn't specifically state it in 670-1, I'd go with commander's discretion.
