For me it was when I was a young enlisted guy. Spend a summer Sunday afternoon playing tennis, shirtless.. Wound up with severe sunburn and couldn't wear a shirt for several days. Trip to the TMC: 4 hours I'll never get back. Bottle of witchhazel - $1.49

As a 2ndLt (go figure), I was standing a weekend watch. The G-1 called me at the command deck at fore-warned me that the CG was inbound to read some message traffic. As the message had been printed in hard copy, it was to be stored in a safe until the authorized personnel arrived to retrieve it. Thinking I'd save the General some time, I took it out and kept it with me. Well, nature called. So, I took it to the head with me. About midway through the SNCO of the watch barged into the head. He was going on about how BGen (name withheld) was in the duty office --staring at the back of an empty safe. "Oh, here it is." As we didn't have a chain of custody form in the men's room, I couldn't hand the message to him. So, the General had to wait. Before my relief showed, I was talking to the G-3 OpsO (Colonel). I conducted security & message protocol briefings until the CG retired.

As a Lance Corporal, I had just recently got off orders from Iraq and had volunteered for a Toys 4 Tots event. This wasn't the usual venue; it was a dance club (rave) that had shared the building (openly, as in you could walk into it without going outside) strip club. We were in our blues and were allowed in the VIP lounge. I was at fault, since I instigated a fellow Lance and a Corporal to spend a little too much time drinking what the bartender called "blackouts"... I know I mingled a bit with the strippers because of the pictures and random numbers on my phone that I found the next morning, but all I know is that I wound up dancing on the stage with some go-go dancers and I got blasted into sobriety by my Sergeant on the way back home, in my blues, on the side of the road. So did the Corporal. I'm not sure if I can take all the blame, since command authorized a Toys 4 Tots event at a rave/strip club; that's like putting a bone in front of a dog and telling him not to play with it.

I would not even have counseled you! That was your command's fault! :)

Capt Mark Strobl - Sir, I am completely innocent of all charges. I was out of state at a function and there are 50 people that can swear to that. And, I only knew the person in question as a mere side acquaintance.
