SGT Julia Smyser Pat Buttram once told the first wife and myself of his experiences with Gene Autry (sp). Bob Hope was the honored guest at that 'private reception'. I was privileged to be admitted!

I once met a Marine Major. His last name was "Glasscock" (Maj. Glasscock). He told me if I make any smartass remarks, he would have me court martialed.

Had a Cuban kid in Boot Camp last name CASTRO, he was called “ Fidel”
He also carried the Drill Instructors Cigars in his pocket. Every time the Senior wanted a Cigar, “Private Fidel!!!”
And the platoon would answer “SIR PVT FIDEL AYE AYE SIR!!!” He ran forward and would say” Viva laRevolution!”

In bootcamp. The RDCs asked if there was a barber in the division. Kid stood up and said he was. They said good you can cut hair/guve trims in between hair cuts. He said that he didnt know how to cut hair. The RDC said then why did you say you were a barber. The kid said Thats my Name. The whole division bust out laughing including the other RDCs. Hahaha
