Personally I believe that the lack of respect of the uniform
and disregard for the standards is one of the biggest issues. In my opinion I
think the NCO Corps as a whole needs to do better at enforcing the standards.
Our upcoming leaders are learning from us and without the right example they
will learn the wrong things.

I would say the most prominent issue (in my opinion) is the overall lack of discipline throughout the Army. It just isn't what it used to be. Soldiers don't show NCO's and Officers the same respect that used to be demanded of them, NCOs and Officers aren't as well rounded and professional as before. Or at least they don't have the desire to learn and be experts in their field. A lot of it stems from the current generation's view that they can get whatever they want by putting out minimum effort. They have a huge sense of entitlement that I've never seen before. It falls on the NCO's to demand high standards from their Soldiers, and I just don't see it happening like it should be.

I believe what you're seeing there is a reflection of what is happening within our society, which is also demonstrated in the leaders we elect that lack a moral compass and aren't held accountable for their incompetence, treasonous activity, and gross mismanagement of taxpayer dollars.

Allow DSs to be what they once were in IET/OSUT, lends itself to better disciplined Soldiers...as well as allowing NCOs to be what we once were. I never bought the line that we "gave our power away", somewhere along the way the Army "told" us that our Soldiers had more power than we did and it trickled down and some of our SrNCOs and Officers acted accordingly.

The uniform is wash and wear you can't really make it look good so everyone runs around looking like they just jumped on a wrinkle bomb. No boots to shine I just had to teach a soldier how to spit shine his jump boots yesterday Scary Scary day's ahead.

We should go back to starched and pressed BDU's and spit shined boot's If you look good in uniform you'll feel good. That will build confidence. as your confidence grows so does your pride and so on and so on then before you know it your not only meeting the standard you are raising it.

I hang my uniform up to air dry and remove my patches and place them under heavy object to keep them looking like they have been pressed and not all wrinkled. Found the last longer in garrison if I air dry my uniforms. Soldiers don't even the time to brush there tan boots when the become scuffed. I take pride in my uniform.

I don't think there is any problem with taking a iron on low across your uniform either.

I agree but it just does not look very professional and the average private will follow that rule too the letter because it means less work for him.
