I'm hoping someone from the Pathfinder school can help RallyPoint and point us in the right direction of the proper map symbol for a Pathfinder unit, if it exists. Or does do the Pathfinders in a unit adopt the map symbol of whatever unit they're supporting?

We (101st Pathfinder Company) used to use the standard Infantry symbol, but add both the Airborne & Air Assault designations to the symbol. Seeing as most of us were all Air Assault (typically a pre-requisite before attending Pathfinder at Campbell) and Airborne qualified.

Last I knew there were still two pathfinder companies, one in the 101 Combat Aviation Brigade and one in the 82 Combat Aviation Brigade. The doctrinal symbol would only be a standard infantry company symbol though. The new ADRP 1-02 does not have a new symbol.

According to ADRP 1-02 TERMS AND MILITARY SYMBOLS there isn't a symbol for a pathfinder team. the Army no longer has any pathfinder units. It is pretty much a tasking now. You would most likely send in your scouts to perform your pathfinder duties.

mapping units locations we sometimes used a jeep on the intelligence board with an "S" for scouts at least when I was in the National Guard.
