What we did which is leave. This isn't our problem to figure out. If the Afghan people want their country back from the Taliban they need to take it back.

Exactly. Unfortunately I think a lot of politicians are going to make this same mistake again down the road. What happened with the Army After Action Review and Center for the Army Lessons Learned?

My personal opinion, and it might come across as harsh, but we gave them 20 years to build up governance and the military. It’s on them.

I agree, 20 years is more than enough time to get their stuff straight.
They where more than willing to have us fight their fight for them.

It's pretty much beyond that now. We'll have to fight to keep the air corridor open, and getting people to Kabul to get them on the planes will be problematic. The people we need to save are scattered all over the country. As I see it, we have two options. Fight, or run. Personally, I hate the Taliban and would be in favor of fighting, and I'd be happy to put the uniform back on and fight. If I can find a uniform that fits. But providing heavy air support to force the Taliban to go to ground, might be a good start.

MAJ Ron Peery - agree completely, and I have been there recently as a contractor. A clandestine effort to pull out those we can with bribery if necessary is about our only hope before the Taliban begins to enjoy the spoils of Chinese support.
